Bullard in Running for Award Wednesday, 23rd Mar 2011 09:16
Loan midfielder Jimmy Bullard is in the running for the PFA’s Fans’ Championship Player of the Month award for March. The 32-year-old netted three stunning goals during the month and has become a key member of the Blues’ midfield since signing on loan from Hull City in January.
Bullard faces competition from Bristol City’s Nicky Maynard, Portsmouth’s Jamie Ashdown and Danny Graham from Watford. You can add your vote here.
Meanwhile, former Blues full-back David Wright has been linked with a possible summer return to Portman Road, although mainly as he previously played under Paul Jewell at Wigan prior to joining Town and still lives in the area.
Wright, who has another season on his contract at Crystal Palace, is currently operating in central midfield for the Eagles and it would be a surprise if he was being targeted to fill the right-back role by the Blues.
Elsewhere, it's reported that Newcastle have pulled out of the running for Town striker Connor Wickham, although it's unlikely that they were ever serious contenders in any case.

No thanks, we want to improve our defence not make it worse.

itfc1981, have you ever been to a game and seen him play? I wouldn't have thought so after that comment. You're clearly still living in 1981 when we had a decent defence

I didn't think he was that bad, you have to forget any players performance working under Keane !

used to like Wright, good defensively but not so good at coming forward now he is pushing on in years! Would be a good back up for a new younger more attacking right back and great experience for youngsters to learn from but not good enough for no. 1 anymore. As for Bullard lets hope this doesnt have the same curse as the managers award has if he wins it!

This will go down well with the Hull fans, there was one on the radio earlier this week and they are not happy that he is playing so well for us and weighing in with the odd goal while they pay the majority of his wages. Had to laugh, but you have to wonder at this whole loan system really. Lets face it it stinks. Still hey ho, get in there Jimmy!

Maybe not number one choice but I'd be happy to see David Wright back! Mr reliable and can't agree with bluelady about not being good at going forward. I remember him scoring atleast two headers with us (pretty rare for a full back), one that got us our first win in the new season with beano, remember his goal at carrot road a few years ago as well? Definitely likes going forward and putting crosses in as well. Jimmy!

David Wright was poor a lot of our goals were down to his inability to follow runners at corners last season. he got beat regularly, while his distribution was non to hot.

Releasing David Wright for free, not replacing him, going four months without a right-back, playing Tom Eastman there, saying we did not need a right-back for ages then bringing in Zuiverloon on a month's loan has to be the worst run of decisions that Keane took! I doubt he will be on his way back though as I am sure Jewell has younger targets in mind.

I've got to say I wouldn't be sorry to have him back at PR. Always thought he was a good pro.

didnt think he was that bad, but to be honest he's another season older now & I think Jewell needs to be looking at a RB with pace, who can put a good tackle in, but also get forward.

We got Edwards as our right back now he is good enough for me

Greg Halford is on loan to Pompy from Wolves. He is a very good RB and is proven in the Championship. Plus he played for Colchester so he knows the area.
