Jewell to Speak to West Ham About Dyer Extension
Jewell to Speak to West Ham About Dyer Extension
Saturday, 9th Apr 2011 08:48

Blues boss Paul Jewell says he will speak to West Ham regarding Kieron Dyer extending his loan at Portman Road for a second month. Dyer has made one start and two sub appearances since returning to his home-town club a month ago.

Jewell said: “It’s his last game on Saturday, but I’ll speak to West Ham and see what’s what. I’ve spoken to Kieron and I think he’s enjoyed it here.

“He’s not had a lot of game-time, but he’s enjoyed it. He’s trained all week and I’ll speak with West Ham. If I could possibly keep him we’d look at it.”

Dyer, who is in the squad for today’s home game against Crystal Palace, picked up a minor thigh injury in training and missed the Scunthorpe match but Jewell doesn’t appear overly concerned about the problem: “We knew his injury record before and he’s missed one game since he’s been here and then we had a two-week break and he got rid of the injury over that.

“I had a chat with him in the week, he’s enjoyed his time here. He’s getting fitter as each day goes by, so I’ll speak to West Ham.”

If it's not costing us very much, then no harm although would be better to give some of the youth team who are pushing for the first team a chance.

Is there any really any point Dyer being here when you consider Jewell wants to give the fringe / younger players a chance which i'd rather see as there is always a fair chance that you may well get a plesent supprise from 1 or 2 of these players.I would rather get some kind of deal with Bullard than dyer if you want an older player.Bullard has had a better attitude , gets the team and crowd excited . Dyer is ni longer like that im afraid

Send him back, does not serve any purpose him being here and stopping a youngster getting on the bench

Did not see any reason getting him in the first place.

Would definitely not even attempt to get him in next season. Would rather have Bullard any day of the week. Offers so much more to the side than Dyer

Why bother? Hasn't exactly set the world alight by his return. As others have said, we still have youths fighting to stay at the club, give them a go.

No brainer - keep him. Great for the young players to have the likes of Bullard & Dyer training & playing. A class act on his day, hopefully getting fitter - for me, the type of player we want at the club if we are to move forward. What else do we have - Norris? No thanks, Norris can go in the summer for me - runs around, that's it. Lots of money for a guy who hasn't delivered - and who has been unlucky with injuries himself. He has notched a few times to be fair - but too little, too late for me. Good bye David. Enjoy Portsmouth.

slowerball Agreed.

Dyer still has a lot to offer, especially the younger players. He is still a class act on the ball. He may not have matched Bullard as yet, but he needs more match time an I am sure he will. You can see he is comfortable on the ball, unlike many of the squad whose first reaction is to get rid of it quick. An asset for next season if we can keep him

Lots of nonsense spoken about Norris. He's our leading goalscorer for gods sake. What more does the man have to do.

No harm at all in extending it, he hasn't had enough minutes for me and the minutes he has had, OK he hasn't set the world alight but you can see he is comfortable on the ball which is very important in this league because players are always in your face putting pressure on.

Be great to see him play against the scum as well. Extend the loan, if it works out we can see if we can get him for next season, if not, we won't. No harm done.

Crazy comments about Norris on here. Firstly he can tackle, secondly he never stops running from box to box, thirdly 10 goals from midfield is worth its weight in gold. You will be hard pushed to replaced 10 goals from midfield next year and we still have 7 games left! I think he can get even better on Jewell too..Sign him up!

Saw Dyer walking from the ground to town yesterday. Asked him if he was staying, he said no, 'I'm going back after the Palace game'. asked him about the summer too and whether he'd be back then..he said 'i've got a few options I'm thinking about' then strolled off..

If it is Jewels plan to try and get him next year (if it is even financially possible to do that) then lets keep him.

Otherwise give youth a chance if we are planning for next year.

I have a feeling both PJ and KD will be here next year.

Not bothered either way, too risky to offer contract. As for what has Norris done hmm scored ten goals and set up a few too!!!!

By all accounts he has been recalled. Good news - we certainly don;t need him as offered absolutely nothing during his loan spell. Will be remembered from his first spell - this was one to forget.

This is just soooo pointless, I didnt want him here in the first place waste of space, give some of the youngsters a chance instead of this old scum bag!
