QPR Reportedly Closing in On Bullard Signing
QPR Reportedly Closing in On Bullard Signing
Friday, 3rd Jun 2011 00:46

QPR are closing in on signing Town loanee Jimmy Bullard from Hull City, according to a report in one of today’s tabloids. Yesterday, Bullard was said to be in talks with Neil Warnock’s newly-promoted side, who were regular visitors to Portman Road during the 32-year-old’s successful spell with the Blues.

Despite the local East Yorkshire press continuing to report that the Tigers are still to receive any firm offer for Bullard, this morning's national reports claim Hull and the former Wigan and Fulham man are trying to negotiate a settlement of the two years remaining on his £45,000-a-week deal with Rangers unable to match those terms.

Bullard is understood to want a permanent move away from the KC Stadium but if his current contract situation can’t be resolved then he could again go out on loan, although Hull are not keen on this option.

Town boss Paul Jewell, who admitted at the end of the season that it would be difficult for the Blues to complete a deal which would see Bullard return to Suffolk next season, is said to be looking at other targets with the Blues believed to be very much in the running for Belgian international Faris Haroun's signature.

Well, I guess I'd rather see a Premier League club snatch him up now rather than go through the horrible drawn-out process of us trying to negotiate an impossible contract for him a la Francis Jeffers...!

A great player and sad to see him go, but he's due £4.6m in wages over the next 2 years on his current contract. I imagine the most we could pay him would be £1m per year, at £20k per week and he would probably want a signing-on fee, even if Hull were prepared to let him go on a free.

Then there's his injury-prone history, which would make such an outlay tough to justify.

Nevermind, only another 200 players to be linked with before the season starts . . .

I'm not saying good luck to him. I'm not being bitter or anything but his demenour completely changed towards us on soccer am on saturday. All this about my dad's an ipswich fan now, i'd sign today if a contract was put in front of me, i'd take a pay cut was rubbish.
Its all about the money, and you can't blame him for that, but why doesn't he just admit it.

Good luck to Bullard,- he kept us up last season so he'll always be a hero to me!
Would like to see us make a signing of some kind. Noticed Norwich are now on the verge of signing Morrison- saw the guy play four or five times for England C Team and he was brilliant. Tall and powerful- looks a lot larger than 6ft 2 inches. Would love us to have the firepower they have next season- Vaughan, Jackson, Holt and Morrison.....
We have Priskin I suppose......

PJewellisaGod :- Don't forget Scotland ! LOL.

Shame about Jimmy Bullard, looks like we do finally have to say goodbye. Thanks for the one man band and hopefully PJ will bring in more talent like you.

I will be happy to see him at QPR - rather that than Norwich! It really isn't worth us breaking the bank for a 32 year old with dodgy knees, so that he can spend half the season in the treatment room.

By all accounts Bullard brought a lot to the club off the field as well, helped the younger team members, even if injured he would help the club.

this will be his last contract so cant blame him for going for the money as long as we did all we could to sign him then fair enough I would think the best we would do would be 20k a week on 2 years plus paying a fee.

If QPR offered Hull more then they will let him go to QPR

So does Jimmy play his last years in the Prem or play on less money in the championship for a mid table side

I know what i would do

as i have said before a great player but not the long term answer as he is already 32.
wish him all the best, and hope his last 2 or 3 seasons are his best (as long as its not with norwich).

See Norwich have got 2 players signed and both strikers wonder if they will let us have Jackson?

strange how nothing has been said about the billy sharpe deal when are donnie going to allow us to announce the deal is done. i think its just a case of contract signing but due to season ticket sales donnie wont allow him to sign yet, or am i living in a dream world.

At least this "will he, won't he?" won't be hanging over us all summer, and the club can move on to some more realistic targets.

Lets move on from this now

karlosfandangal- nice if they would sell us Jackson- fast, strong and fights from beginning to end. Doubt they will get rid of him though.....wish we had that kind of player at the club....
Oh yeah...Jason Scotland!

I think the Bullard move would have paralysed our ability to sign anyone else anyway....
Lets get a few players in rather than one....
But not multiple Hourihanes or Drury's...

Like I keep saying, atleast it's not Norwich.

Buulard is not even our player and never will be so why do we keep having to hear about him?
He was fantastic whilst he was here but lets be honest he was never going to sign for us was he?
There is so little news to report on our early signings so we have to keep harping on about Bullard!
I see Norwich have signed two players already........................

Now lets focus on realistic signings.

Is there a fine for failing to raise a side in this league ?

Norwich are in a strong bargaining position at present, hence the early signings. Ipswich are not so we have to be patient.

Good luck to Bullard, a quality player. Hope we can sign more like him.
