QPR Reportedly Closing in On Bullard Signing
QPR Reportedly Closing in On Bullard Signing
Friday, 3rd Jun 2011 00:46

QPR are closing in on signing Town loanee Jimmy Bullard from Hull City, according to a report in one of today’s tabloids. Yesterday, Bullard was said to be in talks with Neil Warnock’s newly-promoted side, who were regular visitors to Portman Road during the 32-year-old’s successful spell with the Blues.

Despite the local East Yorkshire press continuing to report that the Tigers are still to receive any firm offer for Bullard, this morning's national reports claim Hull and the former Wigan and Fulham man are trying to negotiate a settlement of the two years remaining on his £45,000-a-week deal with Rangers unable to match those terms.

Bullard is understood to want a permanent move away from the KC Stadium but if his current contract situation can’t be resolved then he could again go out on loan, although Hull are not keen on this option.

Town boss Paul Jewell, who admitted at the end of the season that it would be difficult for the Blues to complete a deal which would see Bullard return to Suffolk next season, is said to be looking at other targets with the Blues believed to be very much in the running for Belgian international Faris Haroun's signature.

Slightly pissed off that we resurrected his floundering career and then he buggers off to the highest bidder. In fact narked in general with footballers at the moment, they make all the right noises ‘great club, great fans' blah blah blah. Bullard, McAuley, Norris all the same.

We need some good news, fast.

We all knew it would be highly unlikely that we'd see Jimmy back at PR, and tbh I'd rather see him join the R's than those bird brains up the A140. Best of luck to him and no hard feelings. Now let's get on and focus on realistic signings.

As much as i'd have loved him to stay, thanks for keeping us in the league Jimmy and good luck in the future.

Gazelle- I believe there is a fine (sure I heard that somewhere).
Its important to have a reasonably sized squad. I know everyone keeps harking on about Norwich-but they have 6 recognised strikers now. This keeps other teams second guessing what their team sheet will look like and give them less time to prepare to defend against them. Our striker setup is sadly predictable (if we play 2 strikers it will be Scotland and Wickham with Priskin coming off the bench). Teams will get ready for this and be more prepared to nullify our attacks....

Thanks Jimmy. Quality on and off the field in your short time here, you deserve to be back in the prem for one last crack. Help keep QPR up at the scums expense and that'll do for me!

while its disappointing that we not gonna sign jb, im not so gutted, bcse as said theres no guarantee hed be fit for long anyway. as for norwich having signed 2 players already, no, theyve signed 1, agreed a fee for morrison, not signed yet, & reported in paper this morning to be a target for qpr, who are willing to double his wages apparently, which i guess would make them favourites to sign him

What has this got to do with ipswich ?
Does the title say " Ipswich Reportedly Closing in On Bullard Signing ".
No it says QPR not Ipswich and like the other day scum linked with bullard.
He`s a hull city player not an ipswich player we had him on loan and thats all.

Dissapointing that he seems to have gone completely the other way to 'I want to sign for Ipswich, give me a contract today and I'll sign it.' He could have been a bit more honest.

Obviously can't begrudge him premier league football (AS LONG AS IT'S NOT WITH NORWICH). Being completely honest I'm not sure I could be as big a Jimmy Bullard fan if he went to Norwich.

Those moaning that Norwich have already made one good signing, closing in on another. Yeah, they've just been promoted and earned themselves £90 million quid!

BreedonBlue - I think you are being a tad harsh on Jimmy there. Ipswich have always wanted to bring him here and I genuinely think Jimmy would sign here if we got past the hurdle of Hull, however it is Hull who seem to be the ones that are digging their heals in with the whole situation. They are the ones that inexcusably offered him a £50k a week 3 year contract and, instead of picking up the damage, they are expecting a prospective buyer to settle his Hull contract too. With 2 years left on his contract, settling his contract is simply out of our range. We have to accept, in this case, QPR's means allow and ours don't and no matter how much a player wants to join a club, if that club can't get the green light from his current employer, it's a no deal. Fair play, the guy also really wants to play football. People shouldn't forget when Bullard came here, we were 3 points off the trap door to League One, and he made a massive contribution for the 3 months or so which (joke you may like) probably saved our skin from doing a Sheffield Wednesday/ Sheffield United. He came here to play football, he deserves a lot of respect for that. Not a lot of players on £50k a week would do that. He was a breath of fresh air for ITFC last season and, regardless of who he now joins, I say fair play.

McAuley, equally, has moved up a division. He is justified and deserves a crack at the Premiership. Though Norris, I completely agree, waste of space, only ever after the money...

The sooner Jimmy signs for someone the better. I am afraid many fans were unreaslistic in thinking Bullard would want to join us on considerably reduced terms. As Eastman, Brown and Murphy have proved - players are unlikely to accept such a deal.

PJ must now sign an outstanding replacement for Jimmy. Sooner rather than later.
