Norris Still to Make Decision Thursday, 9th Jun 2011 00:10
Departing Town captain David Norris is still to decide where his future lies despite telling the Blues he was moving on after the final game of the season against Leicester. The 30-year-old, who is looking for a three-year deal rather than the two on offer at Portman Road, is interesting a number of Championship clubs including Portsmouth, Nottingham Forest, Leeds, Crystal Palace and Hull, as well as Premier League Wigan.
Norris is understood to have recently held talks with Pompey, who have been chasing him since January, but is still weighing up his various alternatives.
Forest in particular may be more attractive to the midfielder, who stressed the importance of moving nearer to his family in Peterborough when he joined the Blues from Plymouth in January 2008.
Elsewhere, West Ham have been linked with a £750,000 move for Southend midfielder Kane Ferdinand, who was watched by the Blues on numerous occasions during the season.

Does this mean he MIGHT stay?

What I don't get, is his problem with a two- year deal. That was 6 months ago, and the difference between what he wants now and what presumably would still be on offer is now just 6 months. Hardly a deal breaker unless he's unhappy about something else?

No, He's looking for who's offering the most money. Shows what kind of player he is!

Mid table boring dull football with Norris mid table boring dull football without Norris We have Griffith and Anisley and we have Hyam (played a full 11 games) then we have Cevilli he will set the division alight and Priskin and Scotland up front just need to sell Wickham for £10 million and hope someone comes in for Carson and we should be able to push for the bottom 3

churchmans is on the ball I think. No secret Town have asked many players to take reduced wages and some have said no thanks. Personally I think this is only right for a squad that has finished mid table in consecutive seasons. You only get what you earn.

He maybe realising there are presently loads of players out there out of contract and clubs can now pick who they want. Mr norris has to learn that life aint easy and sometimes just appreciate what you've got in front of you

can help but think norris just likes a drama, come on you drama queen sign for someone. maybe he has realised he isn't so in demand as he thought. can't believe its just about a 3 year contract, i think between him and his agent they want a lot more.

Obviously waiting for Man City to sign him up.... Shame good clubs want him..... No loyalty....willing to sell himself to the highest bidder....

The length of the contract and money are tied together of course, as I am sure if Ipswich offered a £12K 2-year deal the club would happily have changed that for a £8K 3-year deal! Norris isn't moving up to the Premier League like McAuley, so what's to say he will get a better financial package elsewhere than Ipswich were offering? While I understand players doing the best financially for themselves, I can't have much sympathy for them at a time when ordinary people are losing their jobs altogether and then being asked to pay more money for football tickets to support those who earn a year's salary every two weeks.

Some captain eh, how committed...........This is not the type of player we want hanging about, he has had monthes to commit, maybe your not wanted as much as you thought you were Norris, cause your average. I say set an example any withdraw offer on table and tell him to FORK.

I would not be surprised if he is struggling to get a better deal than our Town offer! Egg on your face David. People and players need a reality check, the money has run out in football unless you are supported by a wealthy owner which we have in ME's and should really be appreciated.

I agree with posts on here. For an extra year it's a bit of a joke really. Always time in those 2 years to earn a contract extension anyway! Anyway, back to the Chopra story...

I think your find he wants to come to Portsmouth and will be revelled as one of our new signings over the next couple of weeks. Funny how an extremely good player that generated interest by a huge amount of clubs has suddenly become one that you don't want anymore. As someone who keeps tabs on players you guys seemed to think he was well worth keeping not so long ago!! By the way he'll be on about 10k a week on a 3 year deal
4dy added 17:20 - Jun 9
i think we should stop insulting the guy and just give him a three year contract.
EatonBlue added 18:01 - Jun 9
He has shown by his disloyalty that he is not 'captain material' and so it would therefore be incongruous for him to stay at PR.
jas0999 added 18:58 - Jun 9
Norris has gone hasn't he? No longer our player? So who cares?
RegencyBlue added 19:33 - Jun 9
Personally I have always thought him overated and never ever worth the massive fee we paid for him. Dont care where he goes as long as its not back here!
