Lee-Barrett to Start Against Derby
Lee-Barrett to Start Against Derby
Thursday, 15th Dec 2011 10:07

Town boss Paul Jewell has confirmed that Arran Lee-Barrett will start in goal when the Blues take on Derby County at Portman Road on Saturday. David Stockdale returned to parent club Fulham yesterday, while Richard Wright is still on his way back after his shoulder injury.

Jewell said: “Arran will play on Saturday. Richard hasn’t trained fully since he’s been injured. Although we got beaten by Burnley, I thought Arran was our best player, so it’s an opportunity for him.”

Skipper Grant Leadbitter could come back into the reckoning after his groin problem: “Grant’s been training this week, so if he comes through the rest of the week he’ll be considered.”

Meanwhile, with Danny Collins set to return to his parent club Stoke after this weekend’s game, Jewell says central defensive pair Damien Delaney, who recently underwent foot surgery, and Ívar Ingimarsson are both nearing returns: “Damien’s been making decent progress with the physio.

“Ívar’s been training with the physio, he hasn’t had any contact because he’s broken his nose, but I’m hoping that this time next week they’ll both be fit.”

Our defence is so bad at the moment that it doesn't really matter who's in goal as we're just prone to let goals in. more concerned that Danny Collins will play his last game, desperately need at least two new permanent centre backs in january please PJ!

so our back five for the boxing day game is likely to be (assuming Sonko is injured):

ALB
Edwards, Ingimarsson, Delaney, Cresswell

I'm so glad I decided not to stay in Leicester for the game now!

Just found out that Cody Cropper has been injured and Possibly needs some surgery on his knee.I am not sure how it happened,Weather it was at training or away from the club? But it seems rather bad and its possible he will not be able to take any part in Ipswich's games this side of Christmas . Has any one else have any information on this? is it correct?

I have more faith in ALB than in Leadbitter ...or Jewell

ALB is a league 1 keeper at best - how anyone can be pleased to have him playing for the first team is beyond me - especially after we have had our first win under our belts in over a month, we really need a solid keeper to try and help keep that going. And to top it of our 'safest' defender is leaving at the weekend... I just hope Mr Jewell has a few singings lined up for January, otherwise we could be in trouble as the Jan fixtures look very, very difficult!

Arran Lee-Barrett is a waste of oxygen, can someone please check up the rules of football and see if we could get away with fielding an inanimate object, such as a brach or traffic cone instead of him.

Maybe if we get some snow we could put a snowman in goal. It would have a chance of saving any weak shots that come straight at it, a distinct advantage over Lee-Barrett

irishtim - i would agree he has to play against derby, however that does not mean i am happy with it - and i cant see how any one can be. We really need to sign a quality keeper in January ALB is fine as 3rd choice behind Wright and the future no1. If he keeps a clean sheet i will eat my words and congratulate him :)

Football friend im not too happy with it either but we have to support him. Its poor management imo which has left us in this position.

footballfriend - You talk utter bollox! How can you suggest he's fine as 3rd choice and then complain that he's playing Saturday? Stockdales gone back to Fulham and Wright's injured you t urd.

I think we could put two people in goal and still let in 3 goals. It's the defence that's the problem here and not the goalkeeper.

I really dont understand some of you in here!!!
RW is absolutely rubish in goal.
Remember him under RK?
Why no other club wanted him? And we only took him because of our keeper situation.
ALB is alot better keeper tham RW and deserver his place.

Shame that Stockdale had to go back, if it wasnt for him we would have definetly been at the very bottom.

Criticism of this guy is embarrassing. Half of you will not have seen him play and are just jumping on the bandwagon, and the rest of you will be basing your mindless abuse towards this player on one/two games at the back end of last season. He's made as many mistakes as Stockdale has in his town career, and what keeper doesn't make mistakes? He's shown when he was number one 09/10 that he is perfectly capable, and when called upon at Burnley he was fine.

Just because he played badly against Norwich which was such a big game all of you idiots overreacted and now class him as the worst keeper in history. It's f'ing embarrassing.

If Leadbitter is back DO NOT MAKE HIM CAPTAIN PLEASE.

Andrews is a good leader in my eyes.

ALB NEEDS A BREAK!

I really hope ALB doesn't read this forum, will hardly give him confidence ahead of the game will it. Have a noval idea for Saturday, get behind him, give him a boost. Goalkeeping is a confidence thing, get on his back and will not help him or the team. As is too often the case though at PR we dont always get behind ALL the team.

UsualSuspect - how do i talk b0ll0x? how often does any team's 3rd choice keeper play let alone get on the bench... and in instances that does happen it is usually for a period no longer than 1 match... so therefore like i said above i am resigned to the fact he has to play 1 match and i will support him.. all i said was i am not happy he is even in a position to play because we should have better players than him... surely you would agree?? PS.. thanks for calling a fellow ITFC fan a T-urd.... very much appreciated mate... Happy Christmas to you too!
