Priskin Makes Town Exit Tuesday, 17th Jan 2012 15:50
Striker Tamás Priskin has left the Blues after his contract was terminated by mutual consent. The Hungarian international’s terms were up at the end of the season with Russian side Alania Vladikavkaz and Millwall said to be interested in signing him during the January transfer window.
Town chief executive Simon Clegg told the club site: "We have today terminated Tamás's contract by mutual agreement. I would like to wish him every success over the rest of his career."
Priskin added: "It has been a privilege to play for a club of Ipswich Town's standing and I would like to wish the players and all involved at the club all the best for the future."
The frontman joined Town from Watford for £1.7 million in the summer of 2009 and scored nine goals in 35 starts and 25 sub appearances, the last against Blackpool on Saturday.
Priskin's most memorable moment with the Blues was scoring the winning goal in the 1-0 Carling Cup semi-final first leg victory over Arsenal at Portman Road.
The 25-year-old also spent loan spells with QPR, Swansea and Derby while a Town player.

All I can think of is that he is off for nothing and we paid £1.7Mn for him. I suppose that we have to say good luck for the future, but what a waste of money. Sorry, Mr Evans, another lump of your money down the drain that someone got wrong.

At least Ellington does get involved and covers back when needed . May not have had the biggest influence on any thing but does put in the effort !

Healy plays - contract terminated, Inge plays - contra t terminated, Priskin play - contract terminated. Absolute joke.

Don't know if anyone has already said this but Chris Hutchison was doing his nut at Priskin very shortly after he came on. Priskin was given a big chance on sat to prove himself, selected ahead of chops, and unlike dury and Carson, smith and hyam he threw it back in our faces. I sit britannia upper right on the 6 yard line and Priskin was mostly hanging offside, lazy and not chasing anything, head down and not playing like he had 10 mins to prove something. When a quick throw was on his head was down and Hutchison went absolutely mental at him. I think he almost subbed the sub. That was it for him. Tallented yes, deserves to wear the shirt NO!

Get In ! Was going to run around the house celebrating his departure but thought i would honour him in his own style, so had a mooch round the hall then got caught offside in the kitchen.

Easily the most disappointing signing since Finidi George. Hopefully the club will have saved a little money by releasing him now... Regarding Ellington, NE was a free transfer on low wages who had in the past (a few years ago now admittedly) performed very well under Paul Jewell. A calculated gamble that hasn't paid off. Disappointing, but not a catastrophe and may yet prove useful (I'm an optimist!)

Maybe this explains why he couldn't be @rsed when he came on on Saturday. Better off without him but a shame we didn't get any money for him. Mind you, who would give anything ????

Can't believe people on here don't think he's been given a chance! One good game, when he showed what he was capable of against Arsenal, and even that night he needed 4 chances to get on scoresheet. Whenever I watched him he appeared lazy and dis-interested. Huge waste of money, in fact I'd say our worst ever when you take into account the ridiculous transfer fee.

Another player who's effectively been sacked. It's clear PJ can't get all the players to respond to his style of management. Whatever anyone thinks of individual players it's surely the responsibility of the management team to keep the squad ethic intact. We don't have a 'team' any more, just a collection of individuals of varying degrees of talent with little or no desire to perform but with the comfort zone knowledge that a pay off is pending. Not all PJs fault but he doesn't seem to have the capability to change things for the better.

I think that he's been one of the most frustrating players to watch in recent years. Â He clearly has talent but not the aptitude. Â I'd loved to have seen him fulfil his undoubted potential and become a great player for us but it's not worked out so I'm not sad to see him go. Whilst we'd all love to sell him for a fee it just didn't appear realistic given that he's been fairly abysmal whilst on loan at QPR, Swansea (bar at least scoring a goal against Norwich) and Derby. Â Given that nobody would be desperate enough to pay us for him and he's next to useless on the pitch, as shown yet again on Saturday, it seems best for all concerned that we release him. It's just a shame that a deal for him couldn't be finalised to sell him to Swansea back in July 2010 ( http://www.twtd.co.uk/news.php?storyid=16758 ). Â Maybe it's because he was paid too much with us and wasn't prepared to drop his wages to join Swansea. Whatever the reason for his rumoured transfer to Swansea breaking down back then it's a shame because after he was shipped out about a week afterwards Jordan Rhodes was sold. Â Who knows if the two things are connected because perhaps following Keane's fallout with Rhodes senior perhaps it was inevitable that Jordan would move on. Â Even if Jordan had stayed who knows if he'd have developed in the someway because he could have had all of his confidence destroyed by Keane instead of having been nurtured by Clark at Huddersfield. Who knows if the fact that Priskin not moving to Swansea had any influence on Rhodes subsequently being sold to Huddersfield. Â However because as fans we never know the whole truth behind the scenes we just have to speculate and just for now I'm adding 2 & 2 together to make 5 and in an irrational moment I'm holding it against him and blaming Priskin for the fact that Rhodes was sold. Â Â Â Â

Hermann, Rhodes was sold because of an argument between Keane and Jordan's Dad FACT............Keane was a sad vindictive Dick who ruined our team.

deeply saddened, he was a role model for us all ,a man who earned a huge salary without having to do any work for it. obviously he could have been a great politician or banker if he wanted ,what a shame we cannot all follow in his footsteps

sorry to mention rhodes again unfortunatly out of our league now but as an aside aparently he could still play for england. worth giving him a cap as he is just the type of player england need . he has the possibilty to be of the standard required.

A total & utter waste of skin. Not to mention all the wages & initial fee we wasted on this donkey. And no I don't wish you all the best for the future! Another bizarre decision from PJ, giving him a sentimental runout before firing him?

YES!! get in there! Showed about much effort, Passion, flair & skill as a used teabag! A complete & utter waste of money, hope never to have to see hum on a football pitch again.....

When you think we virtually gave away Rhodes and signed Priskin that summer. Keane you are a complete t0ss3r, & Clegg if you knew anything about football, you wouldn't have let it happen. What was the point of bringing Priskin on against Blackpool? Or was it his lack of effort and failing to close down for their 2nd goal that finally did it. The bench were certainly having a rant at him.

Is it just me or is this new decisive management style quite refreshing? At last! We can all see from the stands where the problems are, ok we don't all see training etc but on match days when we see where a player is given his chances and he doesn't take them, (i don't mean being unlucky) then be a man about it and move them on. Not always that easy with contracts etc but find that figure and ship them out. What's the point in having players hanging around if they clearly haven't got the stomach for a fight, don't do what they are asked to do, or are just not working out. WELL DONE Mr Evans and Mr Jewel for getting on with those tough decisions. It shows to me that Evans is serious, ok he has lost on the deal but I'm sure he has lost money a few times in his life and he knows how to make it back and move on. No point in crying about it fans, move on. same as for Jordan, please move on.

Shame we couldn't have got something for him. Should have offered him to Millwall for 100,000 pounds before just releasing him. Anything is better than nothing. Another player out of the door for free. Rated him more highly than Ellington. Best of luck Tamas.
