![]() Wednesday, 18th Jan 2012 11:08 Town’s teenage target is understood to be Crewe Alexandra attacking midfielder Nick Powell. The highly-rated 17-year-old has attracted the attention of a host of Premier League clubs, including Arsenal and Chelsea, since breaking into the Alex side last season. Over the weekend, manager Paul Jewell revealed that he'd made offers for three players, Pompey pair Joel Ward and Jason Pearce, as revealed by TWTD last night, and Powell. We understand the Blues are still waiting to hear a response from both clubs. Powell, a 6ft tall England U18 international, has made 21 starts and 22 sub appearances for his hometown club, scoring six goals. This season, the youngster has established him in the first team, making 18 of those first team starts. The Gresty Road talent factory continues to produce youngsters tipped for big futures with striker Max Clayton, another England U18 international, also expected to go a long way in the game. It would be a huge surprise if the Blues were to land Powell given the long-established interest from such big clubs. Photo: Action Images
