Sounds good. As a season ticket holder - who spends hundreds on petrol and commits to every game at an estimated cost of £1,600 (includes travel) a season - I am seriously considering just picking say 10 games next season - taking advantage of the cheap ticket offers. It will considerably slash my overall costs. It is becoming more and more difficult to justify the overall cost of being a season ticket holder - so this would be much better. I fear the club are seriously shooting themselves in the foot!

jas0999 - You started by saying it "Sounds good". But then at the end you decide - "I fear the club are seriously shooting themselves in the foot". Which is it?

Your season ticket guarantees a seat; you presumably like where you sit.
The odd "promotional" game merely means you could bring a friend or a relative along and show them what they've been missing. Then when convinced you can both stay away again for a long time!

even with the offers it still works out a lot cheaper having a season ticket if you wanna watch every home game you dont care what matchday tickets offer so many season ticket holders say they want the ground to be filled more but when the club do an offer all you do is moan that you feel so harshley treated being a season ticket holder

Season tickets offer the same premium located seat throughout the season as well as ticket priority for premium matches, such as cup and play off finals (should they ever happen). Even with the promotions ST holders still save money, if not to the extent promoted at the start of the season. The club did say there were different categories for games and all that's happened is that a few games have been moved into a cheaper, promotional, category.

I think it's to the benefit of the club to have more people turn up to games. The last promotion was messed up by the unfortunate postponement so it's only reasonable that the club tries again in what they hope will be better conditions.

This is a great news. I am actually returning to the Ipswich area briefly over Easter, and it will coincide with the Barnsley game. It means I'll get to see my first home game since we lost to Southampton. I cannot wait. Already buzzing for this. I would have gone anyway, as whenever I'm in Ipswich I do try to get to a game, but in truth, the club couldn't have timed this promotion better.

Jas0999, are you talking Norwich City prices as I am certain you are a budgie at heart.
You seem to destroy everything and everyone that is good about our club?
Personally as a season Ticket holder it is refreshing to do this promotion when we are on the crest of a wave and hopefully will persuade others to become STHs next season.

Would have been nice if they'd made the gesture to fans who had tickets for the Boro game that was postponed as many lost out here as well as the reduced offer for the revised fixture. I guess they chose the West Ham fixture as it was a big turn out...

Jas0999 - you could always cycle to games! A bit of an endorphin hit might add some positivity to your outlook!

jas0999 -

the ticket promotions require you to have friends who are season ticket holders who will buy you the tickets to these promotional games, i fear you may struggle with this if you were to get rid of season ticket!

I can get my sister and three of her kids in for fifteen quid! This one's on the favourite uncle, my treat.

(Cue home defeat and at least one nephew in tears)

The club has frozen season ticket prices which give a saving of £10-odd a game, and I see these promotions as a benefit of holding a ticket as I can take friends and family cheaply. I totally support these promotions, and well done to the club for doing this. The very cheap prices for the Barnsley match should help fill the stadium and show lots of people what they are missing by not coming to Portman Road regularly. I encourage all season ticket holders to sell these tickets.
