Player of the Year Voting Open
Player of the Year Voting Open
Tuesday, 10th Apr 2012 09:52

Online voting is now open for this season’s Supporters Club Player of the Year award. The winner will be named at the Player Awards Evening which takes place on Saturday 21st April at the Cameo Hotel (previously Hotel Elizabeth) in London Road, Copdock (doors open 6.30pm).

There are three ways of voting for your Town Player of the Year:

1. Text message - Send a text message to 60070, beginning your message "ITFC" and then - after a space - the name of the player you are voting for, for example, "ITFC Kuqi". Texts cost your standard network rate for SMS. Please get permission from the person who pays the bill.

2. Online - Go to www.itfcsupporters.co.uk and cast your vote as in previous years.

3. At the ground — The Supporters Club will be collecting votes around the ground before the final home game of the season against Millwall.

The Supporters Club are looking for volunteers to help collect votes at that match. If anyone is able to help they should contact Elizabeth Edwards at itsc78@btinternet.com or on 07968 876504.

Last year’s Player of the Year was Jimmy Bullard with Gareth McAuley in second and Connor Wickham in third.

The first team squad and coaching staff will be at the Player Awards Evening where in addition to the Player of the Year trophy being handed over to the winner a host of other awards and debutants' tankards will also be handed over.

Tickets cost £20 and are available from Irene Davey, 10 Lambeth Close, Ipswich, IP1 4DX (please enclose a cheque payable to Ipswich Town Football Club Supporters Account and a SAE) or via Elizabeth Edwards at the contacts above.

Further details, including information on discounted hotel rooms, on the Supporters Club website.

I'd love it if Kuqi won now

Have no idea what way this will go. Carlos? Cresswell? Jet? Martin? Can think of some positives for a few players, but don't see a really stand out candidate. . . .

Congrats Aaron. Deserved, but it's been a poor year with very few obvious candidates.

I don't believe Mark Kennedy made any mistakes on the pitch this year so he's got my vote

Carlos Edwards for me. A regular in the side whose quality is often involved in getting attacks going. Excellent fitness, a good captain and has signed / agreed to signed (has he put pen to paper?) a new contract on much reduced wages.

I was also going to vote for Peters, but he had a poor game against Northampton!

The site won't let you vote for Priskin. Disgraceful.

Martin or Cresswell for me.

For the way that ALB has been treated this year by management and his professionallism he is head and shoulders above every other player, so for me it should be him. But i know it will go to Cressy instead.

As last year Bullard, McAuley and Wickham were chosen, I'd like to opt for Bowyer, Bullard and Ingimarsson. Maybe Jordan Rhodes?

Ellington has 9 votes!! probably suns up how fans view this years 'awards'. Frankly none of them deserve it - but IMO Cresswell has excelled, despite the so called higher profile players failing. For me though, in recent weeks, Edwards has been excellent and receives my vote.

After what has been all in all a pretty awful season I choose to vote for ............. nobody, none of them deserve anything.

To be fair, Ellington wasn't too bad against Posh;]

IMO ...
1st: Carlos has been solid all season and is the heart of the team atm (Captain, linking defence and attack)

2nd: Drury has also been fantastic and has turned our season around and the effort he puts in is only equalled by Martin. (He's also missed when not playing)

3rd: Martin has matured hugely and become the player he should be... the focal point of attacks.

4th:Cresswell hasn't been good enough of late. but is the future of the club and was great at the opening of the season.

(joint)4th: Hyam has been great- but hasnt been played enough.

5th:ALB has been excellent every appearance. and deserves a lot of credit.

None of the others have been nearly good enough.
So for me- Carlos Edwards.

But what about Keith Andrews???? He turned our season around.... (5-3)

Who agrees...???

Can't understand why the web site won't accept votes for Priskin or Healy but will let you vote for Andrews, Stockdale and McCarthy all of who now have left the club.

Perhaps because Priskin and Healy had their contracts terminated while the others fufilled theirs? the only thing I can think of...

I don't like the way the Player of the Year is organised now.
You cast your vote, and unless you pay to go to the dinner, you don't know who won or get to see them presented with the trophy.

Bring back the old system of awarding it on the last home match of the season. We can't all attend the dinner.

A number of players have played well in spells but no real stand outs for the whole season IMO.Maybe Cresswell if any.
Looking forward to the manager of the year award.I'll pass.
