Hewitt to Miss Start of Season
Hewitt to Miss Start of Season

New Town signing Elliott Hewitt is unlikely to make his first team debut until October due to the hip impingement injuries which ended his 2011/12 season with former club Macclesfield. The 18-year-old, who recently signed a three-year deal with the Blues, is currently undergoing rehabilitation at Lilleshall having had operations on both hips.

Boss Paul Jewell told the club site: "We knew about Elliott's situation before we completed the deal and it's no problem.

"Our medical people spoke to the surgeon and a hip specialist and everyone is pleased with the way he is recovering.

"We will have him working with the rest of the group as soon as he's at that fitness level, but he's a young lad, one for the future.

"We were tracking him through the whole of last season and we're delighted to have him here. There were a lot of clubs interested in him. He's a good player already and he's only going to get better."

Jas - I'm also a Jim fan but remember the vitriol levelled at him from so many in the months leading up to the end of his reign.

In the here and now, Harry's comments are right. Who of any note would sign for a lower mid table team that doesnt have the confidence to offer its manager an extension to his contract? They clearly risk signing for someone who could well be out within the year. Season in, season out we routinely see how hard it is to get people we want to sign up. The lack of certainty around PJ's position is only going to hurt us even more. Sadly expecting some low level unknowns signing up.

Tango, it means that the bone of the ball end of the femur, or the bone in the pelvis socket had grown to form a bump or can. The bone is shaved and recovery is usually 6-8 weeks if no complications but could be longer.

Jas who said PJ's job was to make us promotion contenders in 2 1/2 years? He started the job with us in 19th place for goodness sake! His first job was to avoid relegation.

........ same old PJ excuse makers raising their heads again - doubt he can believe his luck that he has so many he can rely on.
Wouldn't happen at any other Club - bet he's glad he's here - as a result he would have to be dragged out of the place.

Who have they been talked about by h32? Would it be the press by any chance? We've barely heard a word from Jewell since the end of the season.

Very true Cyprustractorboy. I am disappointed but still do not know why Jewell decided to sign him. I hope he wont be like Ledley King or Kieron Dyer where they play a game and spend three months out. Would like gk, 2 centre halves, 2 central midfielders, two strikers because duke is crap

Garv - I reckon you and Jewell are joined at the hip - he may not have said much, equally hasn't produced much either, if anything.
Much talk from him at the back end of last season though, about 'getting in early for players' this time round - evidence to date of such ???????? - NO - just talk AGAIN.
