Blues in Heskey Talks
Blues in Heskey Talks
Friday, 20th Jul 2012 10:50

Town are in talks with former England international Emile Heskey. The 34-year-old is out of contract having left Aston Villa earlier in the summer.

A national newspaper broke the news of the Blues' interest in the veteran striker earlier today, with TWTD sources more locally backing up the report.

Last night, Blues boss Paul Jewell revealed that Town are close to making their fourth signing of the summer with a big frontman in the Heskey mould very much amongst his targets.

Heskey started his career with Leicester City before moving on to Liverpool, Birmingham, Wigan and then finally Villa.

Jewell previously signed 6ft 2in tall Heskey whilst at Wigan during the summer of 2006.

Poll: In favour of Emile Heskey joining the Blues?

If true- hope he adds as much to our campaign as Jason Roberts did to Reading's last season. Can't beat their experience.

This is the best news of my life.
This could be the dealbreaker for me buying a season ticket.

I would be in tears of laughter.

Is it april the 1st?

Heskey wont come cheap in wages! Could be good for a punt for 1year.

Big man . Big money? Would be a big draw.

Is he that old?
Shrewd if he signs on the cheap.

Can't fault his work rate, just what we need. His and Chops work rate across the back four would be a huge plus! Will gte a few goals at this level too...

Hmm he could be a good target man and holder of the ball. Can't see him scoring too many.

Although I do think we should be looking to buy/loan younger players, we have been lacking someone who can actually win a header since Walters departed. I think heskey can do a job for us. Chopra will definitely score more with the big man up front with him.

Not sure he scored that many but he would be really good at holding the ball up.

id be happy with this as a stop gap for a season. gives us times to search the lower divisions for the long term replacement.

J.Roberts going too Reading transformed them from playoff contenders too title winners his workrate experience really helped Hunt/le fondre! in fact only lost 2 games in his period from signing in January: let's b honest if we are too sign Heskey it's not for his goal scoring which is not great but as a targetman n foil for Chops n Baldock I think it would work! wages will b interesting it seems Davies at derby with his injury record Ipswich dont want too spent one million on him

Mmmmmmmmm Ellington number 2 i think, not enough wages for 3 keepers but enough to play for Heskey. Scotland is just as good

need a striker who will be with the team for few years not just picking up a expencive ply packet.

Amazing signing if true. Heskey is class just ask anyone who has played alongside him. He'll be the championship signing of the season - I just pray it's with us!

I don't know about this one..... As above, please be a Jason Roberts, not a Nathan Ellington. Can't imagine shouting Heskey's name in a good way after really not liking him in an England shirt.

cant fault his work rate, but his goal scoring record of late is shocking,
i believe you need more goals than the big man can give us to get out of this league.

Does this mean the Steve Davies deal isn't happening? Heskey might be alright in the championship & could work well with chopra. Still not too sure about him though :/

Oh come on, after 3 positive young signings we're back to the washed-up geriatric policy now are we? This has to be a joke surely................

He is 35 in Jan. I actually though he was older than that! Would be good signing for 1 year on championship wages.
