Bullard Set for Exit Thursday, 9th Aug 2012 13:31
TWTD understands that Jimmy Bullard will be leaving the Blues before the start of the season. The 33-year-old midfielder has been on the periphery all pre-season and has been left out of the squad for the last two friendlies against West Ham and Colchester, while reports over the weekend indicated that the Blues were looking to offload the one-time England call-up.
Speaking after last night's 2-1 victory at the Weston Homes Community Stadium, manager Paul Jewell said: "At the moment, he's not in the squad, it's as simple as that.
"There are no untoward reasons, I just don't see the point of him sitting on a bench and getting 10-15 minutes."
He added: "Jimmy wants to play football, he works ever so hard in training - at the moment it's just not happening for him."
However, it's our understanding that the midfielder's Town exit is now only a matter of time.
Bullard, understood to be the club's highest earner on wages believed to be more than £15,000-a-week, rejoined the Blues on a permanent basis just under a year ago having had his Hull City contract terminated.
The one-time Peterborough, Wigan and Fulham man had previously enjoyed a hugely successful loan spell during the second half of the 2010/11 season in which he won the Supporters' Club's Player of the Year award.

Like most, after the loan period I was more than estatic when he joined. Even when he played badly I kept thinking it was just an off day and he would come good. Then one match when he was warming up during the game he saw a mate of his who was just behind us at the SBR end of the Britannia stand. He shouted out to him ' have you bought you boots' the guy behind said 'no why'. JB then pointed out to the pitch and said ' you're a bloody sight better than these tossers' and that was the day my respect for him died. Sad to say but better off now if he goes

Having witnessed him 'in action' I think the only thing he is now capable of teaching our youngsters is how to drink yourself to a standstill! Pity because he seemed to have the talent when he was on loan, but as soon as we agreed to pay him £15k a week it evaporated????????????????

I dont know which Jimmy Bullard some of these complete muppets watched last season but the one I witnessed had no legs, couldnt pass, didnt look bothered. Theres a reason why he's not been playing, because when he has he's been very poor indeed. This is one of the most bizarre things I've witnessed in 25 years of watching town. I have never seen a player who was absolutely outstanding on loan become so so poor it was almost the flick of a switch and I can remember when it first started, when we scraped a win 1-0 at home to portsmouth last season. Shame as really loved his enthausiasm and passion for his football when he 1st came, where did it all go wrong Jimmy? Too many beers?

I agree with many on here - sad news from all points of view - the howling retoric of some belies that belief that many, many Town fans had when wanting to sign Bullard...some forget that all too easily. Played out of position, yes, he was, but still, many a Town fan was hurt by his excess behaviours that showed little professionalism. Jewell has been loyal, Jimmy can not complain at that. On his day, that maverick football player made us smile whether the Cardiff away goal or the scissors, paper, rock escapade. Yes, sad news, but Jewell knows him. I have to trust in that.......

Best news I've heard for a while. 33 years old, 15k p/w and sitting on the bench. 15k could probably pay the wages of 2-3 up and coming young players who'd be much more worth it. @homer_123 PJ Out? Why don't you take his place because of course you'd be much better wouldn't you?

Blues1 - what you say about Jimmy not being able to pass the ball last season is simply not true. For the short while the diamond formation worked hw was our main player sitting at the base. Once the formation got found out so was he. He hasn't started a game since Burnley away! Like someone else said a while back, its not that he's played badly, its just that he hasn't played.

To much wages on a player that has not delivered under contract, if it means we can get Davies or Wickham (on loan for a season) then that would be far more logical. All the best Jimmy.

I'm so glad I've never been married and let Jimmy have a go on the wife. Like so many I feel massively let down. Never have I known an idol to have such feet of clay.

Very sad indeed. I wish jimmy all the best, but this is a poor decision from Jewell. One week from the opening game and we have limited options in midfield. So worried for next season, we are weaker on paper than last season, can't just blame PJ, but the club need to take a good hard look at themselves. Sort it town.

The name of this website is perfect (those were the days) i used to quite like The site, but now it is just a place for many men that are old enough to remember the 'glory' days, to come and talk about how much better is used to be. Well let me tell you something , never , ever , ever will the football be like it used to be. We won't be in the competitions we used to be in. And we most certainly Won't be winning them. I suggest you old farts get back to work and stop talking rubbish. I read the comments on this page and rarely do I put one Myself. This is because who am I to tell Paul jewell what to do he is an experienced manager , who am I to tell jimmy Bullard where his priorities should or shouldn't be or judge his career. Utter rubbish !!! Get used to the fact we are A championship side and get behind the team ' no boos , no tuts ! Trust the professionals ! "get out of OUR club" "Jewell is ruining OUR club" it isn't yours ! Its Marcus Evans' he's the one spending ridiculous amounts of money on players that will never impress you unwashed idiots because they aren't walk burley or beatie ! Get a grip

PJ says: There are no untoward reasons, I just don't see the point of him sitting on a bench and getting 10-15 minutes." He added: "Jimmy wants to play football, he works ever so hard in training - at the moment it's just not happening for him." WHAT ISN'T HAPPENING??? Can't understand these comments they don't add up. I still think that JB has a lot to offer, but there appears to be other things going on behind the scenes?

Completely different subject but Murphy can on as a 88th sub in Celtic's against HJK Helsinki to progress to the Champions League play-off round.

I was positive about JB's signing and he is a player who, on form, can change a game. The trouble is that he hasn't done it recently, he is on a big wage and will cost money to get rid of. I would love to see us sign Wickham on loan, but the truth is that once we have paid JB off there will be little money in the kitty.

Thank god. Ipswich fan living in Hull... Warned you from the start. Played for a contract and then wasted his time. I watched this man order bottles of champagne in a bar in Hull then pour them on the carpet. He's bad news. Good riddance!!!

Cannot claim to know what is the real problem is with Jimmy. Is it problems inside or outside football, we, as fans, will prob never know He did play well for us when on loan, prob kept us up and most fans, I think, wanted him to sign for us. Since then it has not worked out, some one, a mate, the PFA or an ex footballer should sit him down and sort out his problems. He is a good player but for us, on the outside, his attitude seems terrible. He has at Best, two years left to play the greatest game in the world and then aprox another 50 years regreating some of the things he did. Maybe someone should tell him that again because I'm sure he has already been told that by loads of people incl PJ and ME
