Jewell Still Has Backing of Bosses
Sunday, 21st Oct 2012 15:02

Town boss Paul Jewell continues to have the backing of owner Marcus Evans and chief executive Simon Clegg, TWTD understands. The Blues manager, who said he would discuss his future with Evans after yesterday’s game at Hull City, is expected at his pre-match press conference tomorrow lunchtime ahead of Tuesday’s match against his former club Derby County at Portman Road.

Jewell, who was at Playford Road this morning to watch the 1-0 U21s victory over QPR, yesterday said he would consider his position with the Blues without a win in 10 games and in 23rd in the table.

"We have to look at the bigger picture for Ipswich and think ‘Am I the man to take them forward?’, he said.

"And if I decide when I speak to Marcus and one or two other people who are close to me that the best thing for Ipswich is not to be here, then I’ll do that.

“I don’t want to do that, I’ve got to be honest and I hope the answers I come up with are positive answers but I’ve got to be honest with myself and honest with Marcus and honest with people close to me.”

The answers he has received from those in charge at the club appear to have been those that he was looking for.

... whoever thought we would see our Club hit such a low.
But I've said it before - that's the result of money ??, but not Football, people running the Club.
How can anyone not vote with their feet after this latest assessment ?, and shambolic 'vote of confidence'.

I think it makes sense to give him these 2 home games - new players in - a last chance for the players to show some balls and put the effort in for THEIR manager. I still believe that we have a decent squad of players and that either PJ or the next man will do something with them - need at least 4 points - I am getting as fed up as everyone else and if necessary will make my views known on tuesday night - however once that whistle goes I will be behind the team cheering them on COYB!!!

This club is currently rotten to the core!
From the very top to the bottom.
That's the trouble when you have an owner and a CEO of a football club, who both know absolutely jack $hit about football or managing a football club!

i haven't logged in since the last defeat, and was really hoping this saga would have come to an end and evans would have done the decent thing and put this pathetic creature out of his ( OUR ) misery, but no, it continues, hey ho, 10,000 (physical) fans on Tuesday night, and then 9,000 on Saturday that's the only way Evans will take note.

oh just thought, we could start an "ole" everytime Derby pass to each other, worked with keane!

Well said Chopsitfc and greedy5.

The way out of the mess we are in is to win games. But the most important thing on Tuesday is getting 3 points. When the whistle blows, the players on the pitch must have our support. Booing, whistling and banner waving will only add extra pressure.

Protest after the match and do whatever it takes to get this clown out (I'm in favour of a sit-in) but first and foremost support the team.

no h32, think youll find that if me was simply to walk away this club would cease to exist, cue to the fact that we would owe me in excess of £70m. the only way that wouldnt happen is if someone was to buy the club off him, but that would mean purchasing the debt also. unless there was a multi-billionaire out there with money to burn willing to do so then we would be finished. so get your brain into gear. but then, you never do do you? for instance you say why wouldnt people vote with their feet? simple, because if you a true supporter, however pissed off you are with the manager youd still be there supporting the team. unless of course youre only interested in supporting them when things going well. i support the team regardless of whos in charge. yes, i may voice my opinions on the manager situation on tuesday night, but unlike those who like you decide not to go, ill be there willing the team on to win the game

I urge all fans to watch Ipswich vs Oxford on YouTube and see us as town fans how we use to be passionate about the team watch it then decide for yourselfs what happened at the end of the game should be repeated but In a protest instead of just moaning to ourselves

B***ocks bergholtblue, the owner needs to know what the fans think (he obviously doesn't read twtd!) Banners, booing & chanting before, during & after! I don't want us to win on tues! 2 wins from the next 2 games still might not take us out of the relegation zone. Evans must know how we feel CLOWN OUT!!!

We are turning ourselves into our own laughing stock - surely it cannot be that ME, SC and PJ cannot agree a financial pay off ? 2 more home defeats this week, fans turning against the club, manager, players and owners when we most likely lose against Derby and Sheff Weds at our beloved home ground. FOR GOODNESS SAKE PROVE ME WRONG PJ AND I WILL EAT MY WORDS - OTHERWISE GO WITH DIGNITY AND GRACE NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW - Ithink you understand where I am coming from..........

legend. so the owners of man utd are football people are they? no. man city? no. liverpool? no. need i go on? the fact is that the people who actually need to know anything about football are the manager & his coaching staff. and how do you know they know nothing about football? have you spoken to either of them, & asked them that question? no, i thought not. while running a club may have been new to them when they arrived, so it was for those at the above mentioned clubs, who even then doesnt mean because their owners werent football people that they knew nothing about it. dont know what your job is, but does that mean you know nothing about football neither? of course it doesnt. and remember ,m.e & s.c. are here to run the business, not the football team. thats the managers job

blues1 whose team do you think you are supporting ? It aint ours and if the only way to get this bull sculled chairman to actually wake up and see what is happening is to stay away then DO IT. At least when we are relegated next may , some of us will know we made our feelings known about the situation!

muccletonjoe. so if it isnt our team, whose is it?its certainly my team. always has been, always will be regardless of what division we are in or how we playing. if you want to make your feelings known do it at the game or write to the powers that be to express your displeasure. the only thing that not turning up does is affect the atmosphere(what there is) in the ground, and its the players that suffer , not the management or above. just hope those fans who decide to dessert the team when things going wrong cant get tickets when/if we should achieve our goal of the premier league. and no, im no happier than you or any other town fan about things as they are. just i decide to support the team, not the manager, just the team.

blues1 - bravo - perhaps your brain should select a gear for once ?. Effectively you are saying that ME can only EVER be the owner of this Club - NOW THAT THE DEBT IS £70M, as apposed to what started off as £30m.
If that is the case then 'well done Mr Evans' you've effectively, and completely, ruined our Club whichever way you look at it !!!

Thoroughly sad state of affairs - so does this Club any longer deserve support ?? - in the hands of the current ownership / management.

Most of the comments vary but are all of the same theme, we are all very concerned and worried about our beloved football club, and have every right to be. The crazy game certain people at the top are playing is way out of order, and could cause our club irreversible damage.

would you please get MR EVANS / MR CLEGG /MR JEWEL to contact me to explain the rather sad and pathetic way this club has declined over the past few seasons.it appears the fans no longer matter to MR EVANS what exactly are his long term plans for this club as it appears very vague at the moment. why in gods name has such an inept tactless manager still employed .his comments after the match on saturday suggest he is questioning his own ability in selecting the right tactics and the right players.i would be very grateful if someone would contact me and explain just how they plan to get this once great caring football club out of the current mess it,s now in . this is not a tear-jerk reaction as i,ve supported this club since 1975 and can honestly say this is the worst i have ever seen this club run/managed

your sincerely a very sad unhappy fan
