Jewell Still Has Backing of Bosses
Sunday, 21st Oct 2012 15:02

Town boss Paul Jewell continues to have the backing of owner Marcus Evans and chief executive Simon Clegg, TWTD understands. The Blues manager, who said he would discuss his future with Evans after yesterday’s game at Hull City, is expected at his pre-match press conference tomorrow lunchtime ahead of Tuesday’s match against his former club Derby County at Portman Road.

Jewell, who was at Playford Road this morning to watch the 1-0 U21s victory over QPR, yesterday said he would consider his position with the Blues without a win in 10 games and in 23rd in the table.

"We have to look at the bigger picture for Ipswich and think ‘Am I the man to take them forward?’, he said.

"And if I decide when I speak to Marcus and one or two other people who are close to me that the best thing for Ipswich is not to be here, then I’ll do that.

“I don’t want to do that, I’ve got to be honest and I hope the answers I come up with are positive answers but I’ve got to be honest with myself and honest with Marcus and honest with people close to me.”

The answers he has received from those in charge at the club appear to have been those that he was looking for.

Marcus Evans you're a f*****g c**k if you cannot see PJ is totally inept as a football manager.
Perhaps you should do this club a big favour and walk away as you too are clearly out of your depth in a football environment.
If I didn't know better I would suspect you're actually a sadistic secret millionaire Naaarwich fan!!!

Even if we get something out of next two matches to keep crowd quiet, will still limp on with no prospect of going anywhere but mid table or div1.
Jewell has said he doesn't look at web sites or the papers as he knows when things are not going well;so doesn't give a stuff what fans think.Neither it seems does Evans or Clegg.Dont expect there is much about town in Sunday Telegraph.
Crowd at Ipswich are too nice to shout Jewell out in case it upsets players so they lose motivation;so some vote with their feet whilst others are resigned to our fate and sit there quietly.
Most owners would have sacked Jewell a long while ago,and crowds at other grounds would have been baying for blood long ago.Perhaps Evans and Clegg and even Jewell are unaware of the strength of feeling now building up.
Suggest season ticket holders(as they are entitled)should go along to supporters AGM on next Wed 24th(7 for 7.30pm) at PR and make their feelings felt,as it is usually a self congratulatory affair with very little criticism although I see that Jewell wont be turning up leaving it to his assistant to take what little flack there will be.Simon Clegg should also be in attendance.

Had a feeling this might happen,,, especially when he did not stay long in yorkshire with his family ???? He got Persuaded to stay by the powers of above I am sure ???
How many more losses does it take to shift him Marcus ????? perhaps when you see lower than ever crowds you just might smell the coffee ?? .and you cannot charge these prices in Div 1 so wake up !!!!

I'm wasting my time writing this as clearly my voice and nearly every other town fan counts for nothing, if he has not gone by Wednesday and 3 points I am canceling my direct debut.

It doesn't matter who the manager is come Tuesday if your an Ipswich fan you will be there cheering your team! Yes your team not holding up banners, booing or singing pathetic songs, which are only going to deject the team and make things worse! Things won't change even if its not jewell it's the same players out on that field and with quality we have I think the players are more to blame than jewell! Support your club Tuesday not the manager and get behind the lads! Coyb!! Ipswich till I die

I've been an Ipswich fan for almost 40 years since I was a wee lad watching the likes of Mills, Beattie & Hunter on my milk crate and hardly missing a match until 2006. In all that time I cannot recall being so p*ssed off with the state our club and if today's news is to be believed the nightmare is going to continue. It really is dark, depressing times at PR.

I think he'll take these two games against the old clubs he struggled at and hope that those two games yield wins. Football has a habit of throwing up stories and turning the corner against the clubs he failed at might just be one of those ironic twists in football that could be a catalyst.

Anything less than back-to-back victories or 4 points min and it's lights out.

I struggle to think of many games we've changed tactically and gone on to salvage something or win so the above statement is a distant hope!

Full squad and two home matches — lose them and ME won't have to sack PJ — PJ will walk and save ME a heap of compensation.
Pinewoodblueboy — “Evans get your head out of your backside & smell the coffee” ????Didn't you mean ‘wake up and smell your backside'? Just wondering.

there's no point in ST holders refusing to go to the match, they already have your money and Clegg and co will be laughing in your face! ST holders are better off going to the match and making their voices heard, at the start of the game, rather than waiting to when we are losing as it will make Evans take more notice!

In that all we are signing is loan player tells me that ME is keeping his options open - I'd say PJ leaves PR tomorrow under the banner of 'by mutual consent' and another manager arrives before the end of the week and who know it could be HR

This guys Bullsh@t knows no bounds everything that comes out of his mouth is rubbish. Evans wont sack him because all his cronies have to be paid off as well.
Jewell is putting himself and his mates first. If he stays and turns it around i expect to see nothing short of 18 months of entertaining football and success. We have had 18 months of crap so for me to back Jewell it works the other way some how i really dont see that happening.

I said this would happen at 12:54 today on the story concerning the u21 game with QPR. which I've posted again below.

Oh no, does this mean he thinks he has a future here? Maybe he's just thinking of what may have been...I truly hope so. I sincerely hope ME hasn't talked him out of going just to give himself time to find another manager. What player is going to respect him after saying his considering his future, by saying that is confirming a prelude to leaving.

I hate to say I'm right but I cannot understand what ME is doing to our club. I see this going on until Xmas and will end in us being relegated.

i hope we don't follow the same path as Luton did. They were run by people more interested in other things than football.

As i live in Huddersfield now i don't get to many matches. But to all you guys and girls paying your hard earned cash to watch this load of rubbish should take your money to the pub and enjoy it until ME gets his act together or PJ finds some self respect and walks. This is our club lets show them who pays to keep this team alive..

Thank god the Jewell lovers were'nt about when Churhill was warning everyone about Hitler he would been shouted down and condemed for being a moaner.
How anyone can possibly think Jewell deserves any more time is beyond me.

I believe the time has come for us fans to voice our concerns but i feel this should may'be take place outside the ground for an hour or so before kick off.Once inside the ground we should get behind the players(not jewell) .I for one shall be. JEWELL OUT !

Let's just hope that the nxt 2 home games we can show some heart and hold out for wins and the players need to man up I read that hull got 31 crosses in to our box sat and that is not good for any team as that's not tactics that's players not putting the effort in I don't agree with playing RW and NR-C in mid field both not fully match fit even though they have experience but I also wouldn't have put LH or AD in there as I think those two not only r our players but played really well together I'll say it again I think loans r ok for short term to get us out of this position but for at least the next two games at least ST holders should get behind jewel and the team and force us up this league cos I think performances have done us ok just concentrate till the end and there will be light at the end of the tunnel I like jewel and I think perhaps if results don't go out way then perhaps it's time to go no hard feelings COYB
