McGoldrick Wins But Mick Misses Out
Friday, 11th Jan 2013 10:02

New Town striker David McGoldrick has been named the League One Player of the Month for his performances for his former loan club Coventry in December but boss Mick McCarthy has missed out on the Championship Manager of the Month gong to Hull City's Steve Bruce.

McGoldrick, who joined the Blues from Nottingham Forest last week, scored five goals in four matches for the Sky Blues.

Tommy Elphick from Bournemouth and Crewe’s Luke Murphy were the other nominees for the award won by the 25-year-old, while Cardiff boss Malky Mackay was the other man to miss out on being named the Manager of the Month.

Well done David! Does anyone know why Forest don't want him?

If a relatively young Ipswich striker had been loaned out to a League One club and scored 17 goals in 24 games I would be furious if we didn't give him another chance, regardless of his previous performances for us. I'm sure there are Forest fans thinking along those lines. I can vividly recall how annoyed I felt when Keane let Rhodes go without giving him a chance.

Jack Marriott has a scoring record for the under 18's and reserves akin to Rhodes, surely there are league two sides who would be interested in placing what would effectively be a free bet on this kid. Would be great to have another youth product who is acclimatised to first team football. Ditto Lawrence, Timlin and October.

Their loss is our gain, I'm sure.

Glad Mick missed the curse. Onwards and upwards still!

Really hope David M reproduces his form here.

I heard he is not wanted at forest as DMG enjoys the company of a certain goalkeepers better half...

@DanLyes
The Forest supporters that I work with have basically said that he has played crap for them and they are not in the least bit bothered that he has gone.
Let's hope we see the Coventry side of him rather than the Forest one..!

To be honest we're not losing anything either way, if he turns out to be rubbish we don't have to sign him at the end of the season but if he does well then we have the option so we're in a win-win situation. I'm sure Mick and Terry will get the best out of him anyway!

Known to be lazy, but Mick will lick him into shape, so to speak.

According to Forrest fans McGoldrick has found his level at league 1, which I believe. Lets just hope Big Mick can retain his Coventry performances!

And MM losing out to Bruce was always going to happen, he's done wonders at Hull.
