Open Day at Portman Road
Thursday, 4th Jul 2013 17:12

Town have announced that they will be staging an open day at Portman Road on Tuesday 20th August. The Blues have held similar events for the last two years with nearly 3,000 people attending last summer.

Fans will get the chance to watch the players training on the main pitch at Portman Road before an extended signing session.

Entry is free with gates opening at 10am and the training session beginning at 10.30. There will also be side stalls and other entertainment, while food and drink will be available.

Seems a bit odd having it in season, usually it's been hosted at pre-season but hey ho

the pitch is unlikely to be ready, so now training ...... so not so much of an opening day

as it's a work day I expect it will be mostly kids, but they are the ones we need to get interested so hopefully if it's done well and they get involved it should be a positive event

fingers crossed for the weather

They obviously want to keep the event going because of its success and impact on our image as a family club but cant do it pre season because the pitch wont have finished growing after the repair job.

It is partly about the pitch, but also the squad photos are being done that day, and they want to make sure most of the transfer business will have been done by then.

HARRY10, you said the pitch won't be ready, but the season would have started which means the pitch will be ready.
