Villa Confirm Graham Loan
Thursday, 28th Nov 2013 11:24

Aston Villa have confirmed that 18-year-old winger Jordan Graham has joined the Blues on a youth loan until January 4th. Football League clubs have until 5pm today to sign players on loan.

The Coventry-born wideman, previously an England U16 and U17 international, is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Premier League side but is a regular in their U21s.

Graham is set to join up with the Town squad tomorrow. He has not been given permission to play in the FA Cup with the third round tie taking place during his stay.

Speaking at the end of last week, manager Mick McCarthy said he then had no deals lined-up to go through prior to the loan deadline, although admitted that he would like to make some additions: “Not at the moment, no. I’d like to [bring someone in], just to beef the squad up, but we’ll see.

“It’s a difficulty that because bringing young players in from the Premier League, the first thing they say is that they want them to play because that’s why they’re sending them out.

“Bringing senior players in from other clubs who might be disenchanted, they want to play. Coming here over Christmas, they might [not want to come] if I’m not promising that they’ll play.

“And let me tell you, they’d have to be bloody good players to get in the team, that’s my view. It’s not easy just getting loan players to come and beef the squad up.”

McCarthy was still looking to get Anthony Wordsworth out on loan, a move to Preston having fallen down a fortnight ago, while other younger members of the squad could be sent out for spells to gain experience.

Welcome Jordan.

Swap him for Anderson on Saturday? Surely we could do no worse?

Although i'm happy that he's a young right sided player that i think our team needs, i'm also disappointed that Elliott Hewitt hasn't been given a fair chance at playing there himself. This must also be a bit of a kick in the teeth to players like Jack Marriott, who has been told that U21 level is not the same so he should go out on loan. Then we sign someone with less first team experience than him? Anyway, if he's an attacking pacey winger then i'm still very happy to have him for now.

Michael11 i totally agree 100 percent ,what a shocking message this sends , he wont be as good as marriott ,and also why not play from the start the man we sent to peterborough on loan to get match fit on the right side of mid. I just do not see the point ,MM has a close look at all our players but how many times has he seen this lad play , certainly none anywhere at 1st team level.

I wonder why it's a youth loan and not an emergency loan (presuming players under 20 can be signed on an emergency loan)?

Bye Bye Cresswell, This gives us a chance to see if there can be a swap deal on the cards in January.

I think MM realises pace is something we lack, he's liked to have at least one very quick wide man to push back the oppositions defensive line so there's more space for our midfield to exploit. Hewitt is a great prospect but not lightning quick, Taylor is nippy over a short distance but not a speed merchant. I think Jordan will probably be here to offer is the blistering pace we've lacked for some time. The FA seem to rate him quite highly:

Well I can see Cresswell going to Villa ss part of a deal in Jsn now. With Mings as LB and tbis kid or Hunt infront of him

This guy seems to be very highly rated at Villa so seems extremely unlikely he will be involved in any swap deal in January. Villa will want him back, just as we will want Marriot and co. back.

Does seem a strange 1 when we have players of a similar ilk in our own squad. If he prepared to throw him into the mix then why not try adekunle or doherty?? However if he is as highly rated as seems to be the case he may have bags of potential and if he pulling on a town shirt we should support him.

Sounds good, looks a talent, apparently pacey, just hope he had cross/score!

Some much needed pace perhaps, although sounds like a short term loan which won't lead to a permanent deal. Still, he gives us another option going into the busy Christmas schedule so I welcome the signing.

I suspect that Graham is streets ahead of those two, who haven't even been making the subs bench. I read Mick said some good things about Adekunie a while back, but I haven't heard about Doherty so perhaps he is not doing so well? Also, I think Adekunie and Doherty play on the left, whereas Graham is a right winger.

Where are people having a beer before Charlton on Sat?

Sounds like a really good prospect and perhaps MM is sending a message to his existing wide midfield players to shake them up a bit. Got to be worth a try cant be worse than our current crop of wide men who really aren't producing anything and dont have any real pace. Nothing to lose! Welcome Jordan to Ipswich.

i have said to friends about adekunle and/or Doherty being given a chance. But when you think about it those 2 guys have come from a much lower standard of football, and may need time to adjust. This guy, while he may not have played at 1st team level, has been training with, and playing in the premier reserve laesgue, and has played at international level within his age ranges, so I would guess hes in a better position than those 2, at this moment in time, to perform at this level. why some on here think this sends a negative message to Marriott, etc I really don't know. he, and I expect Hewitt will greatly benefit from their respective loan spells.

Bluefeast,is there anything positive you might like to post......can you think of anything good about our club right now?

If he is half as effective as Dyer was Saturday it will be a good loan.

At the end of the day we have been crying out for MM to bring some pace to the team and he finally has and still people are being very negative about it, I know people think well why haven't we given our youngsters ago and fair enough I can understand people's views on that.. But this loan will benefit the team in the short term.. If our youngsters were ready to play then they would be in the team.. It's not like MM isn't a fair manager.. He obviously sees alot more in Jordan at the moment then out present crop of players..

I really cant't see the sense in this move. No disrespect to the Villa lad, but isn't this a bit of a kick in the teeth for our young lads. Could you see a team like Southampton making the same sort of move. All we are doing is getting one of Villa's lads match fit and to gain first team experience !
Or being syndical is there something more to this?

PortmanTerrorist added 14:24 - Nov 28
Dazzavilla selling the lad big time - watched the video - common denominator - not one move of the highlights of the lad's career ended up wit the ball in the net.

Hopefully he (a la Wilshire) has added goals to his game
