Town defender Tyrone Mings spent part of his Christmas Day feeding the homeless with his girlfriend before joining the rest of the Blues squad on the coach to Doncaster ahead of today’s game.

The 20-year-old tweeted, adding a link to a photo on Instagram: “Best thing I've ever done and most rewarding. Going to feed the homeless and less fortunate on Christmas Day.”

The former Chippenham Town player later added: “It was an idea that my girlfriend had a few months ago. We don’t have any family in Ipswich so we thought we would spend Christmas morning helping out in the community.

“We spent a couple of hours helping to prepare the food and talking to the people there. It was very humbling experience and a long way from football.

“It was one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done and something I’d certainly consider doing again.”

Mings previously showed his generous side in March when he gave a “skint” fan tickets to Town’s home match against Bolton.

Fantastic advertisement as a footballer and a person, really hope this guy makes it big time. A lot of other footballers could learn something from this lad.

It is one thing to donate some cash but he has actually made the effort and spent some time. I just hope he can make it as a player with Ipswich.
