Mings Spends Christmas Day Feeding Homeless
Thursday, 26th Dec 2013 08:41

Town defender Tyrone Mings spent part of his Christmas Day feeding the homeless with his girlfriend before joining the rest of the Blues squad on the coach to Doncaster ahead of today’s game.

The 20-year-old tweeted, adding a link to a photo on Instagram: “Best thing I've ever done and most rewarding. Going to feed the homeless and less fortunate on Christmas Day.”

The former Chippenham Town player later added: “It was an idea that my girlfriend had a few months ago. We don’t have any family in Ipswich so we thought we would spend Christmas morning helping out in the community.

“We spent a couple of hours helping to prepare the food and talking to the people there. It was very humbling experience and a long way from football.

“It was one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever done and something I’d certainly consider doing again.”

Mings previously showed his generous side in March when he gave a “skint” fan tickets to Town’s home match against Bolton.

What a nice guy! Shame this sort of thing isn't a headline on the sports pages.

This guy shows maturity beyond his years.

Why don't we all do this next year and help to put an end to what little homelessness there is in the Town?

Fair play to the lad. You have to take your hat off when someone actually gets off his arse and does something. A credit to the club , himself and his family.

I wonder did he accidentally hand a food parcel to old mick ? He is starting to look like a hobo with that beard of his.

Well done Tyrone - it is emotionally rewarding and very benifical. I have been in the same room as you last season and was very impressed how you handle yourself and your lovely attitude to people. Have a word in Paul Taylor's ear;)

Well done Tyrone.
I just showed this to my daughter & son-in-law who recognised the homeless guys - they are at lunch project in an Ipswich Church.
Great stuff .

I predict a successful future for this boy - a youngster in a privileged position with a social conscience, not to mention the drive to get off his backside and make a positive contribution? Nice one, Tyrone - total respect to you and thanks for bringing a warm glow into my Christmas.

This is not the first time this guy has done something like this. Fair play to him, giving up part of his Christmas Day to do this. Fantastic advertisement as a footballer and a person, really hope this guy makes it big time. A lot of other footballers could learn something from this lad.

What a top guy Tyrone Mings is. Really is a credit to the club. There doesn't appear to be any bad eggs or characters in our squad this year, which I think is why there's more of a team spirit, everyone works hard and does their bit.

Just reminds us footballers are human beings too. And Tyrone is an excellent one from all I can gather. I wonder if coming from non league means he has a greater social conscience as he'll meet fans etc in bar afterwards there.

Very well done Tyrone, many talk a good game but you actually made the effort to make a difference to others.
I really hope you get the football career success that you deserve and hopefullly that is with The Tractor Boys.

These are the kind of players we want at our club. Someone who puts the effort in on the pitch and understands their privileged position when off the pitch. It is one thing to donate some cash but he has actually made the effort and spent some time.

I just hope he can make it as a player with Ipswich.

Bluebhoy-MM doesn't look like a hobo, more the village idiot & going by some of his comments & interviews makes me think he probably the village idiot. Certainly has no idea about actualy playing football.
