Winger Jack Doherty is to return to his former club Waterford United on loan until July. The Irish season runs through the summer.

The 19-year-old joined the Blues on a two-year deal last summer having impressed during a trial in pre-season.

He is yet to make a first-team appearance for Town, his time at Portman Road having been disrupted by injury and homesickness.

Although, in the past this Club really looked after it's youngsters, and did everything possible to try and overcome this - so obviously not something new I guess.

andys_legg added 21:41 - Feb 20 In a world where everyone is so quick to complain about how footballers are like mercinaries and they will go anywhere just for money etc. This lads priority is his family and where he knows he is happy and thats the place he calls home. If that is what makes him happy thats all that really matters. If your homesick lad go home and be happy with your family and friends. Life is too short. Good luck to him.
