No Town Move For Graham
Wednesday, 10th Sep 2014 16:05

Sunderland striker Danny Graham won’t be joining the Blues on loan, TWTD understands.

Earlier in the week it emerged that Town were one of a number of Championship clubs to have made an approach for the 29-year-old, who is out of manager Gus Poyet’s plans at the Stadium of Light and is available for loan.

Wolves and Leeds have both previously been linked with the former England U20 international, while Middlesbrough, where Graham started his career and spent time on loan last season, are now reported to be showing interest and could be the favourites for his signature.

With new Crystal Palace manager Neil Warnock keen to give former Blues loanee Jonny Williams a chance to show him what he can do - at least until after their Capital One Cup tie against Newcastle United later this month - Town currently seem likely to go into Saturday’s home game against Millwall with no loan additions to the squad. The Eagles are reportedly yet to receive an enquiry regarding the Wales international.

Elsewhere, former Blue Owen Garvan, who spent time training with Town over the summer, has joined Bolton on a 93-day loan from Palace. The Trotters are managed by Dougie Freedman, who was previously Garvan’s boss at Selhurst Park.

The ‘emergency loan window’ which allows Football League clubs to sign players on loans of up to 93 days opened yesterday.

Were waiting till the summers over to avoid extra wages , were waiting till the transfer window shuts and the premiership managers list their 25 man squad , were waiting for the loan window to open .
Why are we waiting to improve a squad that was not good enough last season to finish higher than 9th and has lost one of its best players to the premiership , and a number of other players gone or loaned out ?
The club and the fans need some exciting news to lift us or the season will soon drift by again , surely signing Garvan would have been better than our options ?

no point signing anyone until 29/30 Sept. anyhow as loan will be up before end of December and they will miss games over Christmas.

Good, we already have a squad full of players who can't hit a barn door, we don't need another one!!

So, we are going to make do with this wafer thin squad and rely on a defensive midfield that lacks creativity and goals. Great.

Smithy - agree with you to an extent, as have been saying it for a month now. But the club should have realised this and secure half season loan deals.

Um, we do potentially have quite a creative midfield. One is injured for a bit, one is very young, one or two are finding their feet. Oh, I forgot Hunty - he's alright sometimes too. We could always give these youngsters (everybody used to want youngsters) a bit of time to gel and get better? Also, I think it's amazing and unexpected and encouraging that we didn't sell two players after very sizeable bids. There might just be a proper plan going on here. Why not keep the faith a bit?

Good. We have Murphy, Sammon and McGoldrick already. And I would much rather see McQueen given a run out off the bench than Graham.

Shock horror town goes into Saturdays game without any new additions, why oh why have we got such a small squad a couple of injuries and we will struggle to have a full list of subs.

It's financial fair play innit? Everyone has to have a paper-thin squad to operate on a level playing field .... oh.

i just think its a flaming cheek how certain players just turn up and think we will take them on and then the ones you think are a good signing for the club go elsewhere.after the longest servers in the championship surely someone it our club must think we are doing something wrong, loan players who are not wanted by their own clubs just turn up sulking and dont give a damn as they want their own team to be up there

Shock.

Garvan would have been a good signing. Don't know why we didn't bother.

Wow there's a shock Town unable to get a half decent striker on loan..,..never saw that coming!!!

I do agree with not signing Garvan though, suspect his best days might have come and gone.

I want to know why no decision has been made on Collins and Ambrose, how long does it take?!

As usual club will hide behind ffp, supply mediocre squad playing mediocre football yet expecting us to pay top dollar.

....... I do ..... he would have been a constant threat of creating something - shock / horror, definitely not for the faint hearted at Portman Road.

Not too bothered about Graham...but all a bit vague on why we are not trying to get him.., to higher a weekly wages to pay maybe?
Collison is training else where now - and that was all a bit strange that he was training with us and playing in the under U21's but apparently wasn't on trial here!
Question is has MM got another possible player in the same mold lined up if we don't get Williams or if Palace don't even let him go?
Let's HOPE for god damn sake we get some positive news regarding loans in the next few weeks!

DJ Campbell is looking for a new club - although he did look as if he had been hitting the gym a bit too much when he was on SSNHQ earlier today...

Hands up all the loyal supporters including me I might add who are now really starting to loose interest.

This is just a complete joke. Ipswich can't attract decent players on loan because of our position in the table. Mick has to realise with our current squad we are going knowhere.

Thank goodness. Last thing we need is another non-goalscorer

the problem is lonelyblue that even if wee think there may be a plan regarding transfer policy mcarthys main plan on the pitch is to pump long balls forward.
he will need to leave before we can really progress as a footballing side.
mcarthy does not particularity value creativity in midfield as he does not plan to play through it he just wants them to scrap and run around when we havent got the ball
