Taylor Training With Blackburn Monday, 2nd Mar 2015 11:31 Out-of-favour Town striker Paul Taylor is training with Blackburn Rovers and could join the Lancashire side on loan.
The 27-year-old hasn’t returned to the Blues since ending his loan spell at Rotherham in January with manager Mick McCarthy having told him to stay away and to find a new club.
“He’s not coming back and his agent’s been dealing with it. It’s with him and Paul. He’s not coming back, full stop,” McCarthy said in January.
Taylor, who is understood to be the club’s highest-earning player on around £10,000 a week, is out of contract at the end of the season.
The Liverpudlian joined the Blues from Peterborough in the summer of 2012 for an initial fee of £1.5 million, which could ultimately have risen to £2.5 million.
He made only nine starts and 16 sub appearances for Town, scoring one goal, and missed almost a year of football due to a toe injury.
Rovers have scope to make a couple of additions to their squad despite being under a Financial Fair Play embargo with former Town loanee Bradley Orr's contract having been terminated by mutual consent.
Orr, who was with the Blues between November 2012 and Janaury 2013, making 13 appearances, has announced his retirement from football.

10K a week just to stay away from the club? Surely there was some part he could have played to earn his keep. The turnstiles could do with another lick of paint for instance.

ArnieMs - Leadbitter wasn't a bad signing. in fact he'd have done well under McCarthy. Got to agree with you about the others though.

Glad he wont be coming back, what a scum bag. He is one town player I wouldnt mind if he signed for Naarwich. We would all actually cheer him for it!

....... many vindictive comments about Taylor, which some may / may not be true - much is down to the assumption because of what people have said - in other words hearsay. A few would do well to be advised to temper their post content. Whatever is 'said or alleged' - the fact is ITFC signed him, and agreed his contract in doing so. His style of play would never fit with MM in a million years - far too much flair and creativity for that - therefore he was up against it as soon as MM walked in the door. Like it, or not - the two above credentials scare the wits out of MM. We have players already at the Club with both - but they will never be played in their rightful positions, subsequently true potential never capitalised on. You only have to look back at the team selection on Saturday for proof. Like it, or not people - hard facts. Normal respondents hit the minus button, as you will.

Calm down Mullet! Don't think Taylor has any chance of rescuing his failing career...in time, no doubt all his shortcomings will come to light. A real bad apple.....maybe his 'fan club' on forum will soon see why he couldn't or wouldn't fit in?

Blueboy, there's no doubting his ability, but sadly, for whatever reason or reasons, there is something going on with him, personally or otherwise....rumours have emerged from his time at Rotherham!
blueboy1981 added 18:35 - Mar 2
warktheline ........ agreed - but again 'rumours' and therefore 'hearsay'. Truth is we don't know - and can only speculate, either way. Talent / Personality like that should be manageable by someone - if not then he will naturally and deservedly find himself out of the game.

Unlike some on here I don't know the man. Never met him, don't know any of his friends, or heard any stories about him from people I know and trust. All I know is that when I did see him play he ran at defences and provided some excitement. If he is a disruptive influance then of course get rid. But let's face it MM is no angel and I reckon he can be quite hard to get on with of he so chooses to.

Not so long ago loads of people on these forums were demanding he was in the side. MM comes out with a few comments and you all now hate the man.

Not saying that MM is a bad man manager, but some managers out there would have persevered and tried to get the best out of him. Talented player, shame.

I hope he is allowed to play for Blackburn down here and scores a hat trick. Can anyone say, hand on heart, that he should have been used more by our stubborn, one dimentional manager

If he had Anderson's heart and personality he would be in our squad, because he's a much better footballer than him.

This is news, as significant wages could be freed up for another signing (maybe even two). Anyone heard anything about Mcdonnell? We badly needed him at Norwich and I assume he's got to be playing soon. Will be like a new signing when he starts. Taylor was a good player, but not the right kind of player for hoofball. He may well do well at Blackburn (who seem to be playing good one-touch football these days). Chasing huge hoofballs just wasn't his game. The strikers we have now are much more condusive to our tactics.

Town got Varney and Rovers have got Taylor. Very hard to decide who has got the rough end of the stick with those two! I've got a feeling that part of the reason MM didnt want to play Taylor is down to the extras we would have to pay P'Boro, that and the fact he was sh1te obviously!!

Ok. Never met him, but what we do know is that most football managers would play pol pot and the anti-Christ if they thought they would enhance the team. After the club paying that much money for him, and forking out so much in wages, whatever they might be, Mick must have felt a bit of pressure to get the best out of him when he took over. He did give him time, but It didn't work. Why not? Who knows, we don't see what happens day in and day out during training. But ask yourself this...when players leave, Mick usually gives them his blessing and wishes them well, as he did with Sammon and Bajner. With Taylor he wanted him away and told him not to come back. For all we know his boots are still mouldering in a locker somewhere in Playford Road. Mick's comments, and more to the point his lack of comments in that he can barely mention him without busting a blood vessel, sum it up. A complete and total waste of money and a lesson to those who want us to spend our way out of this league which, sadly, they will never grasp. Oh and my vote for worst transfer goes to one Mr Ulrich Le Pen. Think it worked out at £500,0000 a minute!

Sears is a better player. Has genuine flair, pace and, most importantly, can score goals (had our best chances on Sunday, too), plus seems to fit in with the team spirit. Taylor at Ipswich only had pace and a bit of flair, but no end product.
