Emmanuel Signs Pro Deal
Thursday, 6th Aug 2015 17:40

Right-back Josh Emmanuel has signed a two-year professional contract with an option for a further season.

The 17-year-old Academy product - who turns 18 later this month - broke into the first-team squad early in pre-season and appears set to make his senior debut in Saturday’s season opener at Brentford with Jonny Parr injured and Christophe Berra suspended.

“I’m delighted to sign the contract and it’s up to me to keep working hard going forward now,” one-time West Ham schoolboy Emmanuel told the club site.

“The manager and TC have been great with me and have given me an opportunity in pre-season. I feel part of the squad now but I know I’ve still got a lot of work ahead of me.

“I’m very happy to be signing as this is a family club and I feel very settled here. I’m looking forward to working hard every day over the next two years now.

“We’ve got a big game against Brentford on Saturday and all the lads are ready to go. Training has been lively this week and I think we are looking good.”

A great boost for the lad ahead of Saturday! Mick showing more and more faith in the academy each year! Mention must go to klug etc behind the scenes that keep producing the young talent! All the best my boy.. Look forward to seeing u play and tear up and down that right with AMN! COYB!!

Getting the feeling there's plans for this lad. Been plenty of talk from Mick about him in the run-up to the season and this looks like another statement about his future. Looking forward to seeing him in competitive action.

Ipswich Town bringing kids through and giving them a chance. Who'd have thought!
Bye Keane. Bye Jewell. Bye Clegg.

Now, keep the ball on the deck a bit more and parity will be restored after our hiatus!

And Mick doesn't give youth a chance?

All the more satisfying in light of Sean Dyches comments today

SCUM Take Note. ITFC has a genuine player development pathway from its Academy to the first team. How many ncfc players have they brought through to their first team?

Sounds like a great talent! The right back position is yours for the taking

Looked good against Utrecht, so don't think the lad will let us down if he's called upon, nice to see us putting the youngsters through. Just wonder if the boy McGhee's transfer comes off where it will leave him.

Well done young man ! Enjoy living the dream, and have a long and sucsessful career at portman Road

Tractorog added 20:08 - Aug 6
SteelMonkey It will leave him competing for his place, just like every other player, but knowing that if he is good enough, he plays.

I get the feeling there are first team plans for this lad. Great to see more youth coming though COYB

Whatever was the point of ArnieM's comment. The budgies are in the prem & no concern of ours, concentrate on ITFC.
Like Emmanuel a lot & it's good to see players coming from the academy after a long time with nothing much, great to have Klug back running it

What I saw of him against FC Utrecht he looked good and could be good in the future...

I don't think he is quite ready to play every game this season so we need to ease him in e.g play him in FA/League cup/Lower league table teams or 20/30 mins 2nd half....

I am sure once he is consistent each game he will start more but good to see youngsters getting a chance at 1st team

We've signed a right back. Pack up everyone, we can go home now

Hegansheroes - I see the point of ArnieM's comment quite clearly. Norwich's are the most deluded fans on Earth - they've won sweet FA and their footballing pedigree is minute compared to ours. They frequently forget this, so we're obliged to remind them. If Josh Murphy had come through a proper youth system, he'd be an experienced 1st teamer by now...

Buzzing for Josh Emmanuel. He has looked a real prospect in the Cambridge game and in the highlights of the Duesseldorf game...

Slambo.Norwich not won anything, how about the play off final at Wembley,oh and League Cup I believe when hardly anybody of note went in for it.
Please don't label me scum even if I have a Canaries carrier bag(given to me as a joke)as have been an Ipswich supporter since the early 1960's,a season ticket holder since they were introduced for 'Churchmans'(now south stand)and a shareholder.
This un necessary slating of Norwich I cannot understand, perhaps this is because I am an Essex boy?

Think I recall Marcus or was it Mick saying that aim was for about half to come from academy. In first team squad now we have Tommy Smith Luke Hyam Teddy Bishop and now Josh.Let me know if I have missed any)
Think Tommy came in nearly ten years ago now and Luke has been in squad for about five. However Bish only came in last season.Recall the late great Sir Bob used to only bring one or occasionally two per season
