Two Changes From League Opener
Saturday, 15th Aug 2015 14:28

Town boss Mick McCarthy has made two changes to the team which started last week’s opening Championship game at Brentford with Christophe Berra and Jonathan Douglas replacing youngster Josh Emmanuel, who drops to the bench, and the injured Kevin Bru.

Berra will be in his usual position at the centre of the defence with skipper Luke Chambers moving to right-back.

Left-back Jonas Knudsen and winger Ainsley Maitland-Niles make their home debuts for the Blues, while Douglas makes his first league start. Former Wednesday midfielder Giles Coke is on the bench.

Town: Bialkowski, Chambers (c), Knudsen, Berra, Smith, Skuse, Douglas, Maitland-Niles, Fraser, Murphy, Sears. Subs: Gerken, McGoldrick, Pitman, Coke, Tabb, Emmanuel, Touré.

Sheffield Wednesday: Westwood, Hunt, Helan, Lees, Loovens (c), Hutchinson, Matias, McGugan, Lopez, Wallace, Joao. Subs: Wildsmith, Palmer, Semedo, Nuhiu, Lee, Sasso, Sougou. Referee: James Linington (Newport Isle-of-Wight).

Emmanuel played well last week. Parr is fit (maybe). So why play Chambers at full back, with Smith still in the side alongside Berra?! Should drop Smith and play Chambo at centre half and play a full back at full back.

Think it's a mistake dropping young Josh. As I said last week give him a run and let him grow into and make the position his own. Round pegs in round holes please Mick.

Poor move defensively from Mick...where is David 'back to his best' McGoldrick? on the bench! - and if he was would be in the starting line up in some capacity even as an attacking midfielder.

McCarthy must know something none of us do, or he is loyal or too set in his ways.
Almost anyone could see that Tommy was at fault for the goals last week and it is about time to experiment with a right back at right back. Some of the best teams in the world do that.
We scored an equaliser in the time that I wrote this message so I have calmed down a bit.
Sears should still be ahead of McGoldrick for now, but hopefully Dave will come on later and make Mick's selection choices difficult. I wonder if McGoldrick and Sears could work if Murphy is out of form (not saying he is as I haven't seen any games yet).

What you lot need to realize is we play again on Tuesday, the last thing you wanna do is flog a young player to death and risk them having a career of injuries (Keiran Dyer)
