Dozzell on Target as Hayes Wins First Cap
Friday, 28th Aug 2015 21:06

Academy midfielder Andre Dozzell scored and keeper Nick Hayes made a number of impressive saves as England’s U17s beat Turkey 2-1 at Walsall’s Banks’s Stadium in their second game at the St George’s International Tournament.

Dozzell, who was winning his second cap at U17 level having played in the 3-0 victory over Italy on Wednesday, struck in the 20th minute. The 16-year-old midfielder was subbed on 66.

Hayes, also 16, who was winning his first international cap at any level, played the full 80 minutes and was only beaten by a 49th minute penalty.

The England youngsters face Portugal in their final game at Burton Albion’s Pirelli Stadium on Sunday.

The matches are preparation for the first qualifying round of the UEFA European Championships in October.

Great finish by Dozzell !!! We must get him on a firm contract so that we don't lose him. Although his father is a blue and he would most likely be very happy to stay, if a great offer comes from elsewhere, nobody can't blame him for leaving. And with this international performance I guess he is getting lots of attention...

I would love the days when he can do like (or better) than his father for us.
