Hyam Makes First Start at Burnley
Saturday, 2nd Jan 2016 14:07

Town boss Mick McCarthy has made one change to his side for this afternoon’s game at Burnley with Luke Hyam making his first Blues start of the season in place of Jonathan Douglas, who misses out with a knee injury.

Hyam made his first Town appearance since suffering a knee injury in January as a sub at Brighton on Tuesday.

The Blues could line up in the 4-3-3 formation utilised at Brighton but seem likely to switch to 4-4-2 to match the Clarets’ usual system.

Jonny Parr is back on the bench after a calf problem as the Blues chase a club record sixth successive away win.

Burnley: Heaton (c), Lowton, Keane, Mee, Ward, Kightly, Jones, Barton, Arfield, Vokes, Gray. Subs: Gilks, Duff, Boyd, Taylor, Darikwa, Ulvestad, Hennings.

Town: Gerken, Chambers (c), Smith, Berra, Knudsen, Skuse, Hyam, Bru, Fraser, Sears, Murphy. Subs: Bialkowski, Malarczyk, Parr, Maitland-Niles, Oar, Varney, Pitman. Referee: Peter Bankes (Liverpool).

Nice to see Hyam back in, other than that squad picks its self.

This is pretty much our strongest team could be a repeat result of what happened earlier in the season

Brilliant to be in the position of having a squad that picks it's self.
I think 0-2.

I prefer Hyam to Douglas, but am concerned it's Skuse/Hyam, which didn't work brilliantly last season. Difference this though, is we have two creative players next to them. Bench looks strong today.

Jas0999 hope your right with the second part of your post, last season wasn't great in the middle with those 2 not an overly great Douglas fan but he has a shot and a goal in him those 2 realistically dont

@Jas0999 that's just it. Last year we played 4 central midfielders. That was never going to work.

Hyam and Bru together never worked for me. Would have played Bru in the centre with Skuse, with Fraser and Maitland Niles (or Oar) out wide.

.......... Hyam / Skuse ?? ....... a concern for anyone who has anything other than a short memory.

Let's hope they prove themselves this afternoon - and it doesn't cost us .... !!!
