Fraser Out for Six to Eight Weeks
Wednesday, 10th Feb 2016 17:41

Winger Ryan Fraser is facing six to eight weeks out with the hamstring injury he suffered in the closing stages of Saturday’s 1-0 loss at QPR.

Town have yet to confirm the length of Fraser’s expected absence, however, the Bournemouth Echo is reporting that the Scotland U21 international, who is on loan with the Blues from AFC Bournemouth for the season, will be sidelined for six to eight weeks having undergone a scan earlier in the week.

The Scotland U21 international is likely to return to the Cherries for his rehab, as he did earlier in the season when he suffered a knee injury.

Fraser's absence until late March or early April is a significant blow to the Blues with the ex-Aberdeen wideman having enjoyed a hugely impressive season and the favourite for the club's Player of the Year gong.

As revealed yesterday, Town are set to land Fulham's Ben Pringle on loan as cover while the 21-year-old is unavailable.

If the rest of the midfield had more quality we wouldn't miss him so much.
Just watching Peterborough play WBA another team from a lower league who could pass us off the park, they just need someone to put the ball in the back of the net ........even the back four are allowed to pass the ball.
I bet the WBA fans wish they had Westley as their Manager instead of the Dinosaur Pulis.

The stats comments are laughable. These are the people who support MM whatever. He said stats don't matter two weeks ago. He also said no need to sign anyone. He had two players for every position. Watch our league position now!!

You've taken his comments out of context, he said stats like possession to not matter if you do not get the result you want.

Statistics clearly matter in football as they wouldn't have dedicated teams behind the scenes preparing players for upcoming games using relevant data.

Also in a transfer if you are going to spend £1m on a player who would you choose:

Player A: Played 20 games and scored 15 goals.
Player B: Played 20 games and scored 1 goal.

Now sit back down.

Green Army, I admire your positivity although not quite sure where you managed to pluck those stats from but a commendable effort!

However, there is no denying, Ryan Fraser is a super player & I for one, sincerely hope to see him flying down the wing in a blue shirt at least one more time - what a signing. The best player in our squad by a country mile.

I will be very sorry not to see him at PR next season :(

Warkys_Tash, all reliable sources online.

Agree that Fraser is our best player, he makes a huge difference to the crowd when he gets on the ball and that usually in turn lifts the team, Sears has the same effect often.

But the stats do show that he has not been ultra pivotal in regards to results, goals scored etc

Just a bit of perspective for those commenting "season over".

Shame for the boy but if I was Eddie Howe would take my time with him before sending back as that's 2 injuries this season already and only Feb !

Braveblue - knew some would take the opportunity to have another dig at MM. I suppose it's his fault that we didn't sign all of those top stars for free that clubs were prepared to let go in January and who would have been so desperate to play for a huge club like Ipswich. Even if we had money instead of being over £80m in debt what club will sell their better players inJanuary anyway? They al want to hold on to them. We're a mid table outfit 2 points off the playoffs.

GreenArmy - it is a commendable effort to pull that data together but i'm going to have to question some glaring pieces of missing information to the argument i'm afraid.

What the stats don't tell you is probably more persuasive than what they do and that is the number of points Fraser has one is with those goals, with those assists and also with his role in the earlier phase of an assist. If you look at his assist and goals, they've largely come in marginal games where he has been the deciding factor to secure us the points. As an average, yes, it evens out but we'd be considerably worse off without him.

If you look back in recent games for example at all the positive results out of the last 7 or 8 games, his goals or his assist or his initial build up play have resulted in us scoring and being the deciding goal in the game: Leeds, Reading, Portsmouth (H), Preston.

Our form also dipped massively when he got injured. Also i'd argue the stats don't show what he does off the ball to give opposing managers defensive concerns which effects games too

I'll stand by my comment about our season being over. Unless Gio comes in on loan!?

GreenArmy: well done on the stats. Stats can be incredibly deceiving though. Look at these for Giles Coke.

https://www.whoscored.com/Players/13955/Show/Giles-Coke

He has over 70 percent pass completion (Knudsen has 90) and has won 50 percent of his aerial duals. He's also put 1 shot towards the opposition goal approximately every 2 and a half games (I remember 0). He's played 14 times (13 losses and 1 draw), and has 0 assists and 0 goals.

Oh..stats aren't that deceiving then....

Seems like we've learnt nothing from last season re: the quiet Janaury transfer window and then getting injuries into the New Year, if we truly had ambition we would have undoubtedly strengthened in January what ever the circumstances. I think Pringle might do the job but he won't have the abilities with the ball Fraser has. Unfortunately for us we have been fat too lackadasical with relying on 1 player to be the creative attacking force.

Wish him all the best in his recovery.

Clearly stats don't matter to MM as a player can have played 0 games & he will still sign him.......as long as he costs 0 pounds!
Mr Evans on the other hand can turn £6million into £30million, now thats an impressive stat!
