Feeney Handed Full Debut
Saturday, 2nd Apr 2016 14:12

Town boss Mick McCarthy has made two changes to his team for today’s game at Wolves with Liam Feeney handed his first start and Ben Pringle returning to the line-up for Luke Hyam, who drops to the bench, and Daryl Murphy, who suffered a calf injury while away with the Republic of Ireland. David McGoldrick returns to the bench for the first time since early December.

Feeney, a half-time sub in the Rotherham game, seems likely to start in a front three on either the left or right of Brett Pitman with Freddie Sears on the other flank.

Pringle looks set to be on the left of a midfield three with Cole Skuse and Jonathan Douglas.

While McGoldrick returns to the 18, Teddy Bishop, yet to play a senior game this season, made the trip but isn’t included in the matchday squad.

Wolves: Ikeme, Iorfa, Batth (c), Hause, Doherty, Coady, Price, Saville, Sigurdarson, Zyro, Helan. Subs: Martinez, Deslandes, McDonald, Henry, Hunte, Mason, Le Fondre.

Town: Bialkowski, Chambers (c), Smith, Berra, Knudsen, Skuse, Douglas, Pringle, Feeney, Sears, Pitman. Subs: Gerken, Foley, Digby, Bru, Hyam, McGoldrick, Varney. Referee: Rob Lewis (Shrewsbury).

DOUGLAS is this seasons TABB. 3 points or stay in the Midlands MM villa isn't far from Wolverhampton

Better team today, but I can't quite see what Douglas offers. He's 34 and his legs have gone, he can't keep up with the pace of the game anymore and is effectively a passenger.

I would probably prefer bru then Douglas but apart from that, not a bad team.

3 points today boys.

Douglas retains his place. Unbelievable. So much for MM learning from his mistakes. Foley and Bru are head and shoulders better. We will have two defensive midfielders and four defenders with no one to hoot it to. I see another struggle.

Would rather Douglas wasn't starting but at least Feeney and Pringle are playing. Need to win this game to keep our outside chances of play offs alive

Douglas still starting!!! how bad does a player have to be before being left on the bench? glad Feeney and Pringle are starting but again no Foley making the first 11 !?! surley it should be Foley in for Douglas. Fingers crossed for a win.

Happy with this ....except for DOUGLAS! His performance was abysmally awful against Rotherham. One of the untouchables though.

Good attacking team. Douglas the weak link for me. Poor against Rotherham and certainly doesn't deserve a start.

Hyam for Douglas and Bru for Skuse would be much more appealing and creative. Oh well, we know Mick loves to play for a draw...

A few mentions of Douglas here. We can't all be wrong can we? He is the weak point of this side. Feel for Bru - he's an easy choice to leave out for Mick, whereas Douglas can have an absolute shocker (and that's being kind to him) and he starts the next game. What the ?!

The only way Douglas will loose his place is if he gets injured. Mick will just never drop him! Awful player! Other than that good team great to see mcgoldrick on the bench!

You couldn't make it up an attacking team away against a reasonable and ultra defensive against third from bottom at home unbelievable McCarthy OUT

Foley may still be recovering from his rib injury, may explain why he's not starting.

Would've definitely had Foley in for Douglas, but hopefully this team has enough for an improved performance and 3 points.. COYB

Don't forget Chambers as an untouchable.
Awful full back (and Knudsen - although no one seems to pretend he is good)
Say no to hoofball
McCarthy OUT

Todays selection of Douglas is a prime example of why im not renewing my season ticket next year.
The worst player we've had for many a year, abysmal all season, horrendous against Rotherham yet keeps his place ahead of Bru, Hyam, Foley.
A clear and concisive example of Mick picking players on likeability not ability.
The man is a negative cowardly dinosaur of a manager who is slowly taking the soul from our club.
Please Villa offer him the job i'll gladly carry him on my back up the A14!!!
Fuming!!

Watched a game of Walking Football recently. Surely invented with Jonathan Douglas in mind?
