Want to Play at Portman Road?
Wednesday, 20th Apr 2016 10:59

Town are after players for this year’s Portman Cup in which fans are given the opportunity to grace the hallowed Portman Road turf.

This year’s game takes place on Friday 20th May and offers supporters the chance to be part of a team playing a 90-minute match managed by a Town legend.

Last year’s game was cancelled due to scheduling issues, but the summer of 2014 saw a team led by Alan Lee thrash Bryan Hamilton’s side 9-2.

As well as the opportunity to grace the Portman Road turf, the day includes use of the dressing rooms and dugouts, personalised kit, award presentations, a post-match meal for you and a guest, a commemorative DVD and a photo CD.

If you’re interested in taking part in the Portman Cup, which costs £250 + VAT per person, or want more information, call Town’s sales team on 01473 400594 or email sales@itfc.co.uk.

Why pay? Just give Mick a ring a few days before FA Cup 3rd round week, tell him you fancy a game and you'll be in the team. Even if it's away to Man Utd! Even Jay Tabb comes out of hiding for Cup games. Well at least for all two or three we tend to get of them each season! Mick doesn't like the cups, he likes to save our best talent for mid-table obscurity scraps. And it works wonders, just look this season, whenever he rested our players in the cup for the league, we did just as bad in our next league game as ever! There's no more ExSkuses left Mick, we've had enough!!! Why don't you give Wolves a ring and see if they'll have you back as for some crazy reason they seem to like you a little bit again!

I don't think it's expensive at all.

Certainly not a rip off.

Every time I visit this part of the board it seems like a Samaritans meeting.

Having played in it for 3 years in a row from 2012 to 2014, I can confirm it is a fantastic experience. I also don't think it is expensive taking into consideration everything which you get. For anyone considering it, I would thoroughly recommend it !!

Well i played at Carrow Road for free, wore my ipswich shirt on entering the ground as well :-) Priceless.

I dont think its silly expensive at all, would be a great memory for someone lets face it a good night on the town with a curry thrown in, you are looking at a hundred. For those that can afford it i say go for it!

Grinch - I understand the club is a business but they over charge for everything from match day tickets to a cup of coffee £200+ to be a mascot or walk round the pitch waving a flag. They could give something back.

Would be fantastic to play at Portman Road again, meet some legends.
For the uniqueness and the memories, the good feelings, it can't be beat. £250 is well worth it for a rare opportunity.

I have done this twice before and without doubt two of the best experiences of my life. I scored 2 goals the first time and a hatrick last time it was held in 2014. Personally I think that £300 is fantastic value. It includes kit, DVD, meal for 2 and an experience that will live with you for ever. In fact I believe that I may be the last person to score a hatrick on the hallowed turf. Unfortunately I can't make it this time and am truly gutted! The club do a great job and I felt really valued throughout the whole day.

I did 5 and loved every one. It is a great experience and you meet real town fans who just want to play. I was captain for the last one with Alan Lee as manager for our team. I have played football for over 30 years and his team talk was the best I have ever heard. Brilliantly funny and he was a top man. Milts does a great job knitting it all together.

let's face it. It may the only game you enjoy at Portman road for some time !
