Spanish Winger on Trial With Academy
Saturday, 16th Jul 2016 18:35

Spanish winger Diego Centeno has joined the Town academy on a two-week trial.

Left-sided Centeno was one of the trialists who scored for the U18s in last night’s 5-0 win at Southwold and will also feature at the Liverpool FC Football Cup tournament later this month when the Blues youngsters will face the hosts, Tottenham and Manchester United amongst others.

The 16-year-old is currently with the Costa Unida club in Marbella, who have also sent striker Johnny Sanchez and midfielder Diego Urquijo to Burnley on trial.

Lets be honest this is one for the future and is a technically gifted player, with a good record according to Spanish press, so might not be this or next season, but with the taleneted youth have coming through would be stupid to pass him up cause hes not ready yet.

Unless he's a relative of Pablo Counago, I'm not interested.

You might like to know that footy training in Spain actually involves playing with a football and not an unexploded hot potato to be got as high and far away as possible as quickly.could be a hell of a culture shock for the youngster so good luck Diego

Do we really need wingers given the way we play? a defensive midfielder with 3 midfielders just in front of him might be a better option.

Bart
Chambers. Berra. Smith. Knudsen

Coke
Skuse. Hyam. Douglas

my lad purchased a pack of match attax trading cards today and lo and behold it contained elliott bennett, now that was a waste of a pound! when i looked at the card it had possibly the worst score i've ever seen on a match attax card of 58 for attack. for a striker, midfielder, or winger, anything less than 70 is pretty poor in match attax. my poor lad won't even be able to give his 58 score EB card away in the play ground! maybe i should try and sell it to ME for £250k! if i catch the plane quick to portugal i might still be able to find him and mick on the 18th hole discussing if to to extend the early bird scheme to 2.59pm on sat 6th aug!!!
back to the wider point...
i'd much rather a promising spanish youngster given the opportunity of coming through the ranks than a has-been winger who loves norwich through and through and couldn't even make the grade at blackburn.
i don't really want ipswich to become a retirement home for ex-naaaaaridge plodders!

Johnny Sanchez! That's the best footballer's name ever right there. If he doesn't make it at Burnley I'm pretty sure Melchester Rovers will take him.
