McCarthy at Wimbledon-Palace Friendly
Wednesday, 27th Jul 2016 20:07

Town boss Mick McCarthy was at AFC Wimbledon this evening watching the newly-promoted League One side’s friendly against Premier League Crystal Palace.

Speaking last night at Charlton, McCarthy said he was continuing to look for additions to his squad - “Still ongoing, still trying” - with Premier League loanees among his targets.

Former Blue Connor Wickham scored the opening goal for the Eagles, who won the game 3-2.

Former Blues loanee Jonny Williams isn't in the Palace squad but Zeki Fryers, who spent a spell with the Blues at the end of 2014/15, is in the South Londoners' starting XI, as is ex-Town centre-half Damien Delaney.

Another Blues former loanee, Andros Townsend, is on the bench having recently moved to Selhurst Park from Newcastle United.

AFC Wimbledon: Clarke, Fuller, Meades (Gallagher 74), Robinson, Charles (Nightingale 74), Fitzpatrick (Bulman 67), Parrett (Sweeney 74), Reeves (Whelpdale 67), Taylor (Poleon 67), Beere, Barcham. Unused: McDonnell.

Crystal Palace: Speroni, Kelly (Binnom-Williams 79), Dann (Wynter 72), Delaney (Croll 67), Fryers (Souare 46), Jedinak (Boateng 72), Puncheon (Mutch 79), Kaikai, Bolasie (Lee 72), Campbell (Ladapo 47), Wickham (Townsend 60). Unused: Perntreou, Ward, Berkeley-Agyepong.

Zeki Fryers was horrendous. I'd definitely take Chung-Yong Lee.

Kaikai could be worth a look! Small fee or loan could be very effective for us. AFC also have a young talented squad so maybe there's a gem in there somewhere!

I'd rather we took Chung-Yong Lee than Kaikai. We need more experienced players to go with the youngsters.

Kaikai single handedly kept Shrewsbury up in league 1 last season. Good player deco worth a punt.

McGoldrick linked with Wednesday today, we have been linked to Campbell before. Hope it's just a horrid guess as McGoldrick will be missed. Any luck could be a winger?

...... looking for a bargain for a penny. Anything more, and we won't be able to afford it.

who is the best header of a ball from either team ?

otherwise do we need another striker ? Freddie Ladapo had a good game, guy has come from non league football with margate last year.

Yes, we have been linked to Campbell before but we have also been linked with a few other players from both sides. Zero Fryers is an obvious possibility as is Lyle Taylor who may well tick all the winger-striker boxes.

Heard he went to see if Vinnie Jones or Dave Beasent were playing for the Super Dons or if Glenn Pennyfather was playing for The Palace. Either that he was looking at Wimbledon for when we play them in league 1 next season

my guess is MM has given up on AMN therefore goes for another youngster in Kaikai, wouldnt mind seeing us loan him and then sign Lamah

He was hoping to look at Wimbledon's Adebayo Akinfenwa and Palaces Dwight Gayle.

Not realising that both of those players have since moved on to other clubs this summer.

Nahhhh sorry guys & girls you all got it wrong I'm afraid ... As I happens The Dinosaur was OBVIOUSLY there hoping to bring back one of the "Lost Sons". Nooooh not Wickham! you "imbeciles"! but rather 35 year old former tractor boy "discard" Damien Delaney!!! As it should be apparent to even the severely visually impaired ITFC fans that what this club needs above anything else RIGHT NOW is not goal-capable wingers or dangerous dribbling equilibrists or pin-point passing assist-aficionados but rather juuuuuust another defender! ... to EVENTUALLY literally warm the bench, especially during these darn cold December and January fixtures ... right next to The 2nd Coming of Elliott Hewitt i.e.750.000 newcomer Webster, I could easily both fear and imagine! ... ... barring any prolonged injuries or sudden departures to Micks's ever so "favorite" & default back 4! :-)

PS: Psssst I was being solely sarcastic btw ... just in case some of the "usual (ill-humored) suspects" here CHOOSES to take it some wrong way or another. lol

Out of that lot on display it was probably Jordon Mutch or one of the Wimbledon players.
