Spence Handed Debut at Huddersfield

Jordan Spence makes his Town debut and Andre Dozzell, Kevin Bru and Freddie Sears all return to the Blues side at Huddersfield, while Dean Gerken keeps his place in goal with Bartosz Bialkowski unwell.

The Blues look set to continue with their 3-5-2 system with skipper Luke Chambers in the centre between Paul Digby and Christophe Berra at the back.

New boy Spence is the right wing-back with Josh Emmanuel dropping to the bench. Jonas Knudsen continues on the left.

In midfield, Dozzell and Bru join Cole Skuse with Jonathan Douglas and Grant Ward among the subs. Tom Lawrence is up front with Sears, who replaces Leon Best, who is left out of the 18.

Town’s other new signing Kieffer Moore is on the bench, alongside Tristan Nydam, who TWTD revealed was set to travel with the squad on Friday.

The 17-year-old midfielder is with the first-team squad for the first time for a competitive match, although came on as a sub in the pre-season match at Cambridge, and has been handed squad number 45.

Huddersfield are without key midfielder Aaron Mooy, who has a back injury, while new German striker Collin Quaner's clearance hasn't come though.

jas0999 added 14:27 - Jan 21 Josh dropped for a player on a short term deal. Remind me of Evans five point plan again?! Looks like we are solely relying on Lawrence and possible Dozzell /Sears for creative spark again. That bench looks very weak.

Good to see Dozzell back for Douglas, although I am confused about why Mick said Lincoln was "Not a game for Dozzell" when away to a Championship Play-Off side apparently is!

Dropping Emmanuel for a player who hasn't played since May for MK Dons seems a bit odd, and contrary to backing our own youth players.

I'm not sure sure about the back three when Berra seems to struggle in that formation.

Fingers crossed the team works and we get a surprise 3 points!

legoman added 14:34 - Jan 21 Mark. Lincoln were a team of brutes playing brute force footy. No place for a slender young lad but then again neither is huddersfield imo. Kundai is more physically ready imo.

Goodbye Douglas, goodbye Best. But why drop Emmanuel ?! Great to bring in Spence but what message is that to Josh and the likes of Kenlock......mind you they know Mick by now so probably won't be surprised.

Not sure why a similar 11 could not have played Lincoln to avoid the televised, global humiliation. One day Mick might give us a straight answer.....suspect we might have to wait for the autobiography.
