Bart in No Rush to Leave Town
Thursday, 30th Mar 2017 17:05

Bartosz Bialkowski is in no rush to leave Town despite the fact that he was targeted by a number of unnamed clubs during the January transfer window.

Given his consistency between the sticks it would be no surprise if more suitors came on the scene during the summer — but he insists he would be more than happy to remain at Portman Road for the foreseeable future.

The 29-year-old Pole, who is contracted until the summer of 2018 with Town having an option for a further season, said: “I am sure clubs are watching every player in this league. I’m just trying to do the best job I can.

“I was aware of a couple of clubs being interested in me in January but it wasn’t up to me. It was up to Ipswich and whether or not they wanted to sell me.

“I am so happy here and absolutely loving this place. My family also love it here so there is no need for a change.

“You never know what’s going to happen in the future but I love playing for Ipswich and living here. I won’t say who the clubs were and I don’t really want to say too much about it. I’m happy here, so end of story.

“I am absolutely 100 per cent sure that my family would say the same thing about Ipswich.

“My daughter, Nadia, is getting older. She is seven and a half years old now and understands football. The other day, she asked me about our future.

“She asked where we were going to live in a couple of years’ time and I told her we might go and live somewhere else. She started crying so that tells you how much we love this place. We are really settled here.

“The first thing I need to think about is my family, my wife and kids. In January the club did not want to sell me and if the same thing happens in the summer I’m fine with that.

“If the club tell me they want to keep me that’s absolutely fine. Then again, we all have dreams and we all want to play at as high a level as possible. But I still have a contract here and I’m happy to stay.”

Bialkowski, who was interesting sides in China a year ago, also dismissed the idea that uncertainty about their futures could affect some of his colleagues over the final eight games of the season — or that manager Mick McCarthy admitting he will be considering his own future in the summer will have an adverse effect.

He added: “That’s football and in this game there are always question marks about your future because nobody knows what is going to happen. We are professional footballers and we know what it is all about.”

Meanwhile, the reigning Player of the Year believes on-loan Leicester man Tom Lawrence would be a worthy successor when the supporters cast their votes in the annual poll. “Tom has been fantastic this season,” said Bialkowski. “He’s our top scorer and he’s been very good.”

Sorry Bart but these are the very same sentiments expressed by Murphy
I hope you do stay as you have been our Saviour this season and I thank you for it.

Don't blame you if you move on Bart, overworked behind a poor defence regardless of what MM thinks. You must have your own aspirations to play at a higher level; to test yourself? If the money is right then sentiment aside you deserve to go, you've earned the right through your performances to play at a higher level than the Championship. POTY for me without a doubt, regardless of Lawrence's goals, BART has kept us in games on numerous occasions this season and rightly deserves the accolade, once more.

McCarthy always talks up Gerken, so I could well believe that Bialkowski will be sold in the summer with part of the transfer fee then being spent on new players and ITFC talking it up as evidence of Evans investing money in the playing squad.

Without Bart we would be bottom-three now.

Try and not to be cynical on his words. Friends of mine live near to him and know that what he says is true. But, as football nowadays is what it is....money will probably have the last word sadly.

He's gone.

Remember Marcus Evans "Pumps £5m of his own money into the club every season". So a bid around that figure should be enough for us to accept. Sounds to me like he respects the club but wants to move to a bigger club. I just PRAY we don't use Gerken as his replacement, should he leave.

Fabulous keeper and a great bloke but I don't expect him to be here next season. His agent will want him to move and will be tempting clubs to look at him. The player has the final word but a one club player is no use to an agent, they want them to move around and will apply pressure to make that happen. I just hope we get good money for him because this club is on a downward slide and out of it's depth in a money rich league.

Bart's excellent, as are the other players we've lost and loans who we didn't convert to signings who should still be playing in the blue and white and in the premiership with Ipswich Town..

If Bart is sold MM should resign. As I think he should have done when it was obvious that there would be no replacements in quality for Cresswell, Mings, or Murphy.

You build a side on these type of players, who then attract further talent who can see opportunities with a club committed to excellence and improvement.
you do not cash them in for short sighted income .

Oh, sorry, yes we do

While I think about it, in the past we ****ed up by selling players in exchange for "ground improvements". ie.building new stands .

I'd rather have kept the side of 81 and stood in the pi**ing rain.

Hey ho.

Good. Stay forever. Best keeper since Neil Alexander for me.

Bart comes over as a very nice chap, and had a lovely smile when talking about playing football with his young son nearly everyday in the back garden.Needless to say wants to follow in dads footsteps.

In the interview Bart comes over as a strong family man who Ipswich could hold onto if they wanted;but this decision rests in the main with Evans.Who knows what a man with little empathy for the club;but more with £.s.d will do when the vultures circle in the summer.

I dread to think what will happen if Ipswich are relegated, which is now a distinct possibility.

Without Murphy, his goals, or a suitable replacement, we all knew we would struggle this season.

What is equally obvious is that we would likely be in the relegation zone were it not for Bart. 1 mistake (that i can remember) all season versus a worldy save almost every game. How many points is he worth - enough ! Just think how many games we we have been involved in with a margin of 1 goal at end of play in which he has had an influence. 28 TO BE EXACT !

Correct previous thought, we would already be as good as down without Bart ! POTY. No contest.
