Town Linked With Boro Midfielder Guedioura Sunday, 14th Jan 2018 10:40 Middlesbrough midfielder Adlene Guedioura is reportedly set to depart the Riverside Stadium and be reunited with his former Wolves boss Mick McCarthy at Town.
According to the Sunday People, Boro manager Tony Pulis will allow the 32-year-old to move on during this transfer window, setting up the reunion with McCarthy, the man who brought the Algerian international into English football during his time at Molineux.
Guedioura is unwanted by the Teessiders having made only one start since joining them a year ago, in the 3-2 New Year’s Day win at Preston, in addition to five sub appearances, with a hamstring injury having hampered him for much of his time in the North-East.
He played the full 90 minutes for Boro's U23s in this afternoon's 3-3 draw with Blackburn.
The France-born central midfielder played youth football with Racing Paris before moving on to Sedan, Noisy-le-Sec, L’Entente SSG and Créteil before spells with Belgian clubs Kortrijk and Charleroi.
McCarthy brought him to then-Premier League Wolves in January 2010 initially on loan before making the move a permanent switch for a reported £2 million.
After making 17 starts and 22 sub appearances at Molineux, scoring three times, he moved on to Nottingham Forest, again initially on loan, in January 2012.
Spells at Crystal Palace and Watford followed prior to his switch to Boro in January of last year for a reported £3.5 million, the Teessiders having beaten Hull City to his signature. He signed a contract until 2019.
Central midfield is the area Blues boss McCarthy is looking to strengthen during the transfer window with Town having a number of players sidelined with injuries, three of them - Andre Dozzell, Emyr Huws and Teddy Bishop - for the rest of the season.
A move for a midfielder he knows well as cover for the remainder of the season would be little surprise.
Speaking when signing Guedioura in 2010, McCarthy said: "Adlene is an all-round midfield player who is very mobile.
"Technically he is very good and has the physical characteristics to be able to cope with the Premier League.”
Elsewhere, Sunderland are reported to have joined the Blues, Reading and QPR in showing interest in Barnsley striker Tom Bradshaw.
Town were said to be among the clubs eyeing the 25-year-old earlier in the week, although signing another striker is currently not a priority.
Meanwhile, Suffolk Constabulary have confirmed Leeds fans threw bottles, broken chairs and a "flashbang" during the Blues’ 1-0 victory over the Whites yesterday afternoon.
Reports of a coin being thrown are also being investigated, however, no arrests were made and there were no clashes between the two sets of fans.
The “flashbang” and broken chairs were thrown after Eunan O’Kane’s red card for head-butting Jonas Knudsen, while the bottles followed Bersant Celina’s winning goal, according to a police spokesman.
“Bottles were thrown by Leeds fans towards the Sir Bobby Robson Stand,” he said. “The Leeds fans also broke chairs and threw them.”
Town gave the Whites an additional 1,000 or so tickets for Saturday's match - they brought a total of 3,537 fans - and they were given the majority of the seats in the upper tier of the Cobbold Stand with a number of Blues season ticket holders having to be relocated.
The Suffolk Constabulary spokesman added: “It looks like they misbehaved somewhat."

Would be a good signing a bit of creative mettle in the middle. With regards the Leeds fans what else did we think was going to happen offer a bunch of northern yobs 1000 extra seats and you'll get 1000 extra problems, next year noticiets !! Good move town money grabbing and putting your own fans at risk.

Not overly excited by a 32 yr old journeyman whith hamstring problems. May well still be decent when fit but would rather another hungry young loanee if that's what we need. As for Leeds fans, says it all. Is it any wonder every other club hstes "the biggest (sic) club in the championship". Biggest heads in the championships more like. What utter scum they are, only the incestous actual scum up the rd are more deserving of our distaste and contempt for them.

I'm not making excuses but don't tar all Leeds fans with the same brush. There were no reported clashes between home & away fans, just a minority of numpties, including the one who apparently has posted on his own social media holding a bit of chair. I certainly wouldn't want to be likened to those spotty teen pondlife and supposed ITFC fans who posted online lasylt year about where to meet for a fight.

If he is fit then this is the type of player we need, experienced, strong good ability. No point filling the midfield with talent 19 year old and no experience to play alongside. 32 is not old! He could have 3 good seasons left in him. If he was 35 I would say no. However, it is worrying that he does have a history of hamstring problems the last thing we need right now is to pay him until the end of season on high wages, ben average champ wage fro him to sit in the treatment room. People do need o stop moaning at every little thing. Lots of mamma about the shirt sponsor - Norwich have LEO VEGAS, same kind of deal. Do their fans moan about it?

Don't know a lot about this midfielder but we do need additions for sure. Regarding Leeds' fans.......well done ITFC for allowing an additional 1500 or so Visiting fans into our ground to wreak havoc. With decisions like that the powers that be at our club should be running our government!

I believe in a good moan, but not a moan for moan sake. Criticism of our new shirt sponsor is justified. A lot of us want to be Ipswich town of old, with the sticking of high principles with some success year on year. Looks like we are stuck in a rut for a few years yet.

A coin thrown is a total understatement.. me and my mates were sitting directly below the Leeds fans. We were yards from the flare going off we had coins thrown at us and bottles which were glass how ever they got into the ground I do not know. I agree with a previous post they need to be banned next year. Totally unacceptable yesterday made Norwich look like a friendly match. Even though the atmosphere was great they have let them selfs down and do so Time and time again.

Guédioura (not Guardioura) was in the Watford team who we beat 21/03/15. Incorrect spelling of his name in the article shown above - shown correct on BBC website & wiki.

Sears , Ward , Dids were all better when they first arrived . AMN was certainly better when he started than when he left . More of the question is who has improved under MM coaching ?

Tbh at this point of the season I would prefer Mick trusted players because he knows how they work and so on, better than getting something more radical just to get us through the season.

Nearly all of them but like we always say opinions are what this is all about isn't it? I can't stand the manager the only player that he's not really played in incorrect position and doesn't look like a clueless player is Bart
BrandestonBlue added 16:46 - Jan 14
Players whose careers have benefitted under MM I would say - bialkowski, Murphy, Cresswell , Mings, Lawrence, Webster, Spence

I stopped reading once I got to the hamstring bit. It doesn't matter how good he is if he's injury prone, we have enough of those already. Will we never learn?
