Gleeson One of Two Loan Signings
Thursday, 18th Jan 2018 22:08

Midfielder Stephen Gleeson won’t be the only new addition in the Blues squad travelling to Bolton for Saturday’s match at the Macron Stadium.

Another loan signing, understood to be a central defender, is at the club completing the formalities relating to his move. Both signings are set to be announced on Friday morning.

Town are in the market for another centre-half with Tommy Smith set to join the Colorado Rapids.

Brighton’s Connor Goldson has been the player expected to join to facilitate Smith’s move, the 25-year-old having come close to signing for Town on deadline day in August.

Quizzed on the situation with Goldson earlier today, manager Mick McCarthy wouldn’t comment.

Elsewhere, former Blue Shane O’Connor, 27, has joined Longford Town from Waterford in his native Ireland.

I only have brief memories of Shane O'Connor bombing up the pitch, can't remember what happened to him in the end? Another Keane fallout?

Is anyone else just so bored and disinterested whilst McCarthy is in charge... we are 4 points off the play offs and need maybe 2 quality players to push us up a notch... not Birmingham rejects

No matter who we sign .......it's never good enough
Birmingham reject........funny we signed a Cardiff reject this season too.

If people think there all these quality players out there who's club are going to let go out on loan they are crazy.
Leeds have just spent £4.5 million on a midfield player......he must be quality as he is not a loan and they paid big money.

Runningout
He's been injured off and on...hence lack of action.
Happy if Goldson signs...good CB.

I have supported town since I was 4 which tomorrow is 47 years. In that time I have seen a fa cup win, a uefa cup win , a division2 title, a play off win, and a fantastic night in the San Siro and too many good times to mention. I cant believe our fan base apparently has come down to such negativity to slate a signing so much some have even come to the point of slagging off our under 18s(see the comments on the clubs live feed of the fa under 18s cup match and this site). The issues isn't mick it isn't Marcus its the sad idiots who have to attack my club I will always support the team but until people on here can stop verbally abusing minors, other supporters, and have to attack everything Mick McCarthy and Marcus Evans do I am off here. by the way I am not an out and out fan of Mick just of my fantastic club. I lover this club and have done for over 40 years now through thick and thin.Mccarthy you seemshould to be so bloody thick skinned and has brought this club nowhere in his tenure. We have an owner who has zero ambition to take this club to the premiership he has shown that times ten .I wish they both did one or do we have to club together for a hit man?

Well done Town for managing to get a couple of deals done to help us out in what is always a tough transfer window.

How well are Valencia doing on rejects and players who can't get in their own team.
Sometimes a hunger to succeed when other people have written you off is more important than so called good form and high price tags.
Get behind new additions don't slag them off before they get through the door.

Nice to see a couple of posts on here that are positive towards the club. I really have no idea where the hatred for the current regime has come from.

MM with what he has been given is working marvels. 4 points off top 6 — with so called rejects. Yes we are a hardworking, in your face type team, but so are 90% of the rest of the division.

ME puts 6-7 million into the club each year (before I hear “it's a tax off set” 1) I've not see any accounts prove this 2) it's a blooming big tax off set at 80 million and counting 3) to have such a large tax off set, his other business have to be pretty damn profitable)

The youth teams are for the first time in years starting to produce talent that's getting a chance in the XII. I can't remember such a bright future for home grown talent

And best of all, still above the $cum with a better goal difference!

You outers will get what you want come the end of the season. MM is still as professional as ever, but it's clear during his pre-match interviews he's going to leave come May.

Those going to Bolton, have a round or two of Super Mick.

PS Welcome to the team you new chaps and don't listen to the cynics

We've all been supporting ITFC for 500 years through thick and thin, the club doesn't attract new fans anymore, have you not seen the attendance figures?

People are negative because our transfer business suggests that, while we are 4 points off the top 6, we've got no real ambition to push on and do something. Mick will be gone at the end of the season, so we're signing a couple of fillers to make sure we stay where we are (while losing a loyal servant and future captain to the MLS).

Another season wasted, next up, season 17 in the championship.

MoscowBlueMule. I totally agree with you. Of Mick does go who do we get in. Never in a million years are we going to get big Sam, pep, or conte. I've a gut feeling that there's a bit of a clear out starting now with the crop of youngsters in at the start of next season. Now I remember not so long ago people mentioning about the academy players coming through. They've been sent on loan to help their trade. People have to look at the bigger and wider picture.
People are saying about Evans and the tax thing. Has anybody any justified evidence to back this up.

No, not an inspiring signing but cover for the rest of the season while the majority of our midfield is injured. Why waste money on signing a player next season's manager might not require? Hopefully he'll have a point to prove and give it his all.
We're not going to all of a sudden start playing football so perhaps a scrapping, terrier of a player might be there to do the messy stuff.
Yes, four points off the play offs but a million miles away from looking like getting there.
We'll finish in 14th place

Let me guess, injury prone unfit player thrown into team with weak overrun midfield gets injured.
Once again ME decides to stick instead of twist. Left with 19 games of pointless football leading to lower mid table. Rudderless. Drifting aimlessly with Captain Ahab at the helm.
If ITFC, MM and ME can't be bothered neither should the fans. Boycott Portman Road.
Enough is Enough.
