Town Set to Announce Season Ticket Price Cut
Sunday, 25th Mar 2018 19:22

Town have cut season ticket prices for the 2018/19 campaign by 10 per cent. The Blues’ prices for next season are due to be officially announced this week but were briefly put live on ITFC Direct earlier this evening where they were spotted by fans and posted on the TWTD Forum and social media.

An adult ticket in the lower tier of any of the four stands will cost £381, presumably prior to the early bird deadline, compared with £423 ahead of 2017/18.

There is a similar drop in price in the other stands with an adult upper tier Sir Bobby Robson Stand seat in Area 2 costing £508 next season.

A lower tier U23s ticket drops by the same percentage from £230 to £207 and it appears there will be a 10 per cent reduction across the board.

The cut will be welcomed by supporters who reacted angrily to last year’s increase of 1.5 per cent in most prices with season ticket numbers subsequently dropping by around 15 per cent to under 11,000.

However, many fans won't make a decision on whether to renew until an announcement has been made on the future of Blues manager Mick McCarthy which seems unlikely to come until nearer the end of the season.

The problem is the manager not the prices.

Still too expensive in the upper tiers behind the goal

Wouldn't renew if they halved the prices if McCarthy is still here.

They really didn't have a choice but McCarthy is the problem and if McLaren gets the job it could be the issue doesn't go away. Most people I speak to want to see someone younger like the lads at Lincoln.

Prices down now McCarthy to go!! The best way to boast season ticket sales.

A good first step, but I still won't be renewing mine until Evans announces a plan and also that MM is leaving the club.

Doesn't sound like a massive attempt to bring in the fans to fill the stadium., but probably the best we could hope for, not much chance of a Huddersfield or Bradford City type price cut!
Would be good to reverse the change made last season on the age of becoming a "senior" or may be a loyalty type of deal.
Now need to put Mick out on "gardening leave" for the rest of this season and get a young enthusiastic ambitious manager in now or line someone up for the summer. Things then may be looking up!

Full credit to ITFC and ME, a start of realisaing a few problems at the club and acting upon them. Everybody has to give them credit regardless of view of ME, anyone who doesn't will never be pleased with anything.
Change in manager and will renew my Season Ticket immediately, god I'll even pay after the deadline.

Look it's a good start this.......

When you take into account inflation etc and other factors, it's more like 12%.

Sure, it's still not great and more can be done - however it's not yet been officially announced.

A cut is always welcome - must be our first cut since the turn of the century - I cannot recall us doing this so well done.

Wonder if matchday prices will be amended to 22.50/27.50....... or left 25/30?

I don't see them being 20/25 based on the season card price. If £20, sure a season card would be £460 - so a £79 saving based on game by game - however that's not really going to persuade the casual fan I don't think so I can only assume they are leaving them alone / or down to 22.50 cheapest..........?

This was a leak either to judge the reaction, or possibly by a disgruntled employee to force the club's hand. Do we have any response from the club?

Only at Ipswich would fans stll refer to the man who has played a large part in killing the club (imo) as Mr. Unbelievable

Even if they cut by 50% i will not renew my season ticket if MM is still Manager. Evans just does not get the problem the supporters want to be entertained not his style of football.

No money to spend on players so a cut in ticket price will mean even less money............as fans have said they won't be back

I thought Milne said that the uncertainty surrounding the Manager's position would be resolved prior to the ST renewal process getting underway?

A very welcome price cut, but the football has to be worth the money and if people are not enjoying it I worry we will be looking at lower attendances and a much lower budget next season (with fewer people paying less money). Really there should be an announcement about the manager alongside this as it must be marketed properly.

They can reduce them by 110% but most won't return until Dino is gone !!!!

Simple business Marcus. Reducing prices is great but sacking the idiot is far more important and then you will get a bigger income from fan and match day revenue.

10k crowds @ £30 or 20k & £20 ????? Not a tough one.

Sorry! Personally not "positively" surprised at all...

Cause basically I always expected the following trifecta of things to happen around this time:

1) Milne as promised acting as a 'Good Chappie' and showing his has indeed been "listening" too uhuu! (in some aspects at least) by announcing some MODESTLY cut ticket prices.
(But ehhhm let's not forget the fact that there was plenty of room for this actually regardless of the much talked about operation loss, as the currently EXISTING price level for Marvelous Marcus's Championship 'consumer product' here was among the highest & overall least accommodating to in the league imho ....especially so if you dare take into consideration it's actual so called 'value-for-money' I.E. the way way too often goal-bereft & insomnia-curing dross being served up by 'Mick The Nick's 7-9 man strong defending 'Proper Blokes XI'!

2) Next up on the horizon I strongly anticipate some kind of supposedly "breathtakingly" *positive* new/or re-adjusted long term proclamation... could be called 'THE 5 POINT PLAN REVISITED' or similar... where Immaculate Ian on behalf of his agoraphobic boss will promise "mucho mucho more entertaining football to come" (as directly opposed to utter fan-deterrent football we have been served for years!) lol, obviously oblivious to the fact that since him & ME not only hasn't got a clue about football,it isn't them making the managerial decisions ANYWAY!!! alas they can promise all they want -- aye even including the much greater use & implementation of youth product in the 1st team -- it simply ain't going to happen to any real notable degree IF the person in the managerial seat is a ultra stubborn, 1-dimensional & self-delusional DINOSAUR! And let's be clear about one thing: Mick McCarthy isn't the only woefully prehistoric Dino still around in the top 2 tiers of English football... he does however CLEARLY represent the very worst of his extinction-endangered kind!

3) And then lastly, having thus "softened" many among the Good but ehmmm also notorious fickle-minded Suffolk folks with cheaper prices & various 'Promises of Eden' (short of actual promotion to the PL!lol) from a football perspective... then Mr. Milne will aptly Drop the Boooomb.... Mick McCarthy's 2 year contract option has not only been mutually exercised (probably a good while back!) but more than likely with an additional year or number of years added to it!!!

Aye I know I know: It makes nooooo sense whatsoever from a business perspective, but...
