Season Ticket Sales Up Seven Per Cent as Early Bird Deadline Extended to Wednesday
Monday, 30th Apr 2018 13:30

Town have revealed that season ticket sales are up seven per cent on the same point last summer and that with phone lines having been busy ahead of this lunchtime’s midday deadline, the early bird price will remain available until noon on Wednesday.

The Blues ticket office received more than 150 calls in three hours this morning with prices set to rise significantly after the deadline. An adult lower tier seat, for example, costing £381 will be £163 more expensive post-early bird.

Town, who dropped prices by 10 per cent across the board for 2018/19, say they have sold more than 10,000 seats with cancellations 50 per cent down on a year ago.

“The uptake has been very encouraging and obviously we are delighted,” managing director Ian Milne told the club site."

"“There is a positive feeling about the club and I think that is shown with the increase in season ticket sales.""“We are going into an exciting new era for everyone involved with Ipswich Town, particularly the supporters.”

Season tickets can be purchased at Planet Blue, by phone on 03330 050503 or online from ITFC Direct.

Fair play to Town, fair play to Evans. He really does do what's best for the club and for the fans. Great appreciation on my part for Evans. 🔵⚪️

Just extend it a few month's to maximise sales. Easy.

The club need a bigger boost given the price reduction in terms of revenue but higher crowds as long as they aren't moaning and on the playes and managers back is positive news. That we only have 5pts more at home than away isn't coincidence. 👍

Still feel many are waiting to see who is appointed by ME as the club's next manager instead of committing. Why not leave the early bird extension open until that appointment is made? Feel sure, if the right man is in place then the ST sales would go up significantly more than the current figure.

Why not knock the early bird thing on the head and make these prices permanent?

Am I wrong in saying if ... sales are up 7% which is clearly good...... with prices down 10%....... we're likely to be worse off financially!?

Not looking for 100000 down arrows just wondering.

I agree with Taricco Fan - the price should be the price. Once the early bird discount has expired, who would ever buy a season ticket knowing that it was originally a lot cheaper? Personally I want to know who will be in charge before committing, but if the early bird discount has expired I won't pay the higher price. All the talk around the club is great....but at the moment it's just talk and I've seen good talk before with promises of transfer sales to be re-invested which never materialised.

Currie10, if a straight price of £200 a season ticket, a lot simpler to say that yes, marginally worse off, but if there could have been a greater in more expensive seats this year then we could be financially better off at this point. Too hard to judge.

Almost certain by kick off 2018/19 will be a lot better of financially, just think people of holding off for the managerial appointment. if they're are willing to pay the extra pound note, fair play to them.

Well, if more people are prepared to buy a season ticket than was the case last year, that will hardly be a surprise. It shows that real fans were just fed up with the football being played under MM, combined with the poor judgement displayed by the club in respect of the concessions fiasco.

Like many, I recognise that MM did a good job to steady the ship when he arrived and was working to a very tight budget, compared to some other managers. However, like many fans, I just got fed up with being bored rigid by the play on the pitch and his apparent arrogance.

I just got an email with the same info and numbers. Town are really starting to get the hang of this open communication thing. What a difference to this time last year. Well done to the club and of course to all those that are buying STs!

I agree with tarrico ... just keep the prices the same

Buy a ticket at the cheaper price. Then if you don't like the manager, cancel it. I'll be giving the new man a chance next season whoever it is and I am really glad to be back next year.

Come on boys and girls let get these season tickets and help our club out. The club needs us more than ever now and my optimistic good time are on there way. Me and my son are renewing . There was for me a definite turning point at the Aston Villa game when we were 3-0 down and we were out singing the Villa fans. Even when Villa scores there forth they were looking towards the north stand and couldn't believe what they were witnessing. Let's do it together. We have the chance now to asssit in turning our club around along the staff and players. It will all be worth it when we get a much needed win over our rivals. Coyb . Let's do it together. Ipswich till I die.

Why Wednesday? Why not end of the season, or end of May? The early bird deadline always seems to get extended so it's a bit pointless having one, surely?

I appreciate they want to know how much money is going to be generated by ST's before the season starts but, especially this year, you can't force people to spend money so early, even if the discount is pretty big.

There has to be a reward for buying early. The benefit to the club in having assured levels of season ticket revenue as early as possible is a huge help in planning transfer and wage budgets.
To have the same price no matter when you buy makes no sense and isn't helpful to the club at all

How much of this is due to Mick leaving and how much is due to reduced prices is difficult to say. I have renewed via the Early Bird but will have no objection if it is extended as long as possible to maximise the uptake, even perhaps beyond the point at which a new manager is announced.so that people have all the facts before them before deciding. On that point, the Club, again, have not published the match day ticket prices for the forthcoming season. Last season, they were sneaky and closed the Early Bird then announced match day ticket price reductions !

Bought my season ticket this morning, lets get Portman Road rocking next season. Looking forward to a new era at Ipswich from next season, we saw a glimpse of the potential on Saturday at Reading. Whoever we get as manager I'm sure everyone will be looking forward to the new season in August. COYB!

Strange if all these returning fans had renewed last year and given the club a rise in income perhaps Micks transfer budget might of been, larger so we could of brought in 1 or 2 creative players to fill the gaps left by our injury ravaged midfield still the fans know best.
Onwards and upwards we hope.

I take your point, Monkey Blue, but perhaps they could make the deadline slightly less early and perhaps then it wouldn't have to be extended every year.

Why not extend until a few days after a new manager is appointed

To have the same price no matter when you buy makes no sense and isn't helpful to the club at all"...if you can buy with the early bird discount and still cancel your season ticket, well, that's even worse! The price should be the price. Give people different kinds of incentives (10% off at the club shop, buy one get one free on cup games) but the price should remain the same.

Not only have they not announced match day prices, they also don't announce which other clubs in the championship start their concession prices at 60. Last season was cheaper to go to alot of away games rather than home ones, apart from the travel price.

"Fair play to Town, fair play to Evans. He really does do what's best for the club and for the fans. Great appreciation on my part for Evans."

You must have been watching a different club to me for the last ten years to come up with that. As far as I can see its been one c0ck up after another under Evans regime!

From the appointment of Keane/Clegg, to the failure to go for Cat 1 status at the Academy, to the fiasco of taking away the season ticket concession for those over 60's who already had it last season, as well as many other poor decisions, it has been a shambles from the start.

Portwoman,Christiand,jack27 & Trueblue 1878.

Not sure what all the fuss is about.Understand that not knowing who new Manager is,may make some less committed fans not take out a season ticket.

However, why not as Blue Machines has suggested, get one now at the reduced price before noon Wednesday;making sure that you opt to pay by 12 monthly instalments.

Then in the unlikely event that you wont like Marcus' choice, then you can immediately cancel;but I would guess that most wouldn't.Just a thought.

It would also be good PR if the club could sort out the anomaly of the retrospective 60/65 increase;but expect that's too much to expect.
