Town are being linked with a loan move for Fulham midfielder Tayo Edun, who looks set to move on from Craven Cottage this summer. Edun, 20, was recently on trial with MLS outfit Portland Timbers and is now rumoured to be interesting League One clubs Barnsley and Shrewsbury, as well as Town.

The Islington-born youngster has had limited first team experience with the Cottagers, playing twice in the Caribao Cup last season and later clocking up two Championship appearances as Fulham headed towards promotion back to the Premier League.

He has represented England from U17 through to U20 levels and was in the U19 squad, alongside both Andre Dozzell and new loanee Trevoh Chalobah from Chelsea, that triumphed in the European U19 Championship 12 months ago in Georgia, where he was named in the team of the tournament despite being sent off in the 2-1 final win over Portugal after collecting two yellow cards.

Edun, who is left-footed and can play in central midfield, left-back or in a wide midfield role, made his senior debut for Fulham almost two years in an EFL Cup win at Leyton Orient and also featured in his side’s subsequent ties in the same competition against Middlesbrough and Bristol City.

New Town boss Paul Hurst made no secret of his desire to recruit two wingers and has already brought in Jordan Roberts after he was released by Crawley, although the Blues would appear well covered in the centre of midfield.

Former Colchester wide man Kane Vincent-Young, who plays as a full-back, wing-back or wide midfield on either flank, is with the Town squad at their training camp in Spain.

unknown100 added 13:22 - Jul 4 I know they are just links but I am concerned of the quality of player and their career history, I'm worried he's going to bring too many lower league players in and they will have great attitudes but lack a bit of quality, I appreciate Fulham had a good squad last year and I hope I'm proved wrong but we need a good spine of the team and I'm not sure who that is going to be

toxtethblue added 13:31 - Jul 4 More league 1 quality cast offs. Hurst may be good but he can't perform miracles if he isn't backed with at least modest funds. We need 2-3 quality signings minimum and quality costs money. Still, nothing is MEs fault is it?!

martin587 added 13:35 - Jul 4 As good as it is to be connected to so many moves I do agree with previous posters comments.Yes,it's good to get young hungry players wanting to make a move at a higher level,but we must also have experience within the team. I trust Paul 100% but just hope we can sign experience as well.Hopefully there should be funds available.I appreciate at the moment this is possibly only paper talk but it does raise concerns.Having said all that it's good to get the squad sorted early.

I feel like I need to start seeing some of that cash reinvested and an exciting player come in... otherwise some are going to lose that upbeat excited attitude come season start!

Lower leagues, yes but early 20s and shown huge promise, not someone who's had a decent season. They are frees or Rowe level fees. I don't think Rowe is anywhere near good enough as and I'm paraphrasing MM he would have been ripping it up in league two( with the cowleys who are seen as geniuses by some).

I see that Charlie Wyke is being targeted by Championship clubs, he's a great striker with a good goal record at Bradford City

robmonkey007 added 14:33 - Jul 4 itfctilidie.....not sure anyone is calling for hurst out....three players who have won the U19 championship sounds great, but they're not playing other U19 boys....they'll be playing against the likes of full internationals, seasoned championship players and premiership quality players in some cases. youth is great, but the balance has to be right. i think people are expressing a concern that its not looking balanced as yet. i'm sure this CB lad will be great, but will he have the same impact Webster would have had? I'm not convinced...are you?

So far the most impressive actions of the new management team have been in following the same routes that Mccarthy was abused for ! If Hurst is getting the income from sales to invest it shows how badly treated Mccarthy was with financial backing. With the standard of talent and experience being displayed in the signings and links so far it is beginning to look like a very worrying season ahead .

Ok he's sold Webster who he needs to replace but I'm sure he'll do fine. If we're struggling at Xmas fair enough but we haven't started the season yet, give the bloke a chance! COYB

Yes we need bodies in but if there was ever a time we could/should take a chance on some promising youngsters then it is now. If they not good enough then they surely won't play.....but if they are.....

The first player to come in on loan was a highly rated player who can cover both midfielder and defense. Looks like we will play 433 converting into 343. With the DM dropping in-between centre backs like Spurs.

wilnisfan added 15:47 - Jul 4 There are lots of disadvantages to young players. But the advantage of youth is the amount of energy they have. And with some of the youngsters we are linked with they have played together already. Risk but a calculated risk. I don't think you can attempt a miracle without a certain amount of risk. We've been crying out for fresh ideas from lower leagues, not every one will become multi-million pound players, we need to be realistic. Combining high energy pressing with a system of play which is well executed has won plenty of points, even this world cup. Of course we need the magic touch in attacking positions but I feel this is down to health of some of our returning players

Taricco_Fan added 16:19 - Jul 4 Evans can't afford/won't spend on proven quality players. That's the whole reason a man like Hurst was appointed manager. Hurst wants wingers and proven players cost millions even at championship level. People need a reality check if the last decade hasn't been enough of one.
