Hughes Nets From Own Half as U18s Come From Behind to Win at Birmingham

Striker Tommy Hughes scored the winning goal from his own half of the field as Town’s U18s came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Birmingham City.

After the home side had gone into a two-goal lead, Armando Dobra levelled for the young Blues with a brace before Hughes spotted the home keeper off his line and lifted the ball over him from just inside Town’s half.

U18s: Alley, Viral, Wyss, Hughes, Henderson, Fehrenbach, Ruffles, Foudil, Z Brown, Dobra, Simpson.

These lads are going to be as good if not better than Lankester, Morris and El mizouni, plus there is another group coming along behind them. Maybe we can rightfully think our day will come.

Absolutely agree muccletonjoe. I was lucky enough to watch this match and witness Hughes goal it was a worthy winner of any match. The turning point in the match for me though was the introduction of young Gibbs at half-time. 2-0 down a brave move by Aatay to bring on a schoolboy but he knew what this lad is capable of and wow did he deliver a performance. Remember his name all Liam Gibbs my MOM.
