U23s Beaten at Leeds
Monday, 8th Apr 2019 21:09

Town’s U23s fell to a 3-0 defeat to a strong Leeds United side at Elland Road this evening.

While the Blues included only Barry Cotter with league experience, the home side fielded first-teamers Adam Forshaw, Gaetano Berardi and Izzy Brown. Clarke Oduor, Berardi and Ryan Edmondson netted the goals.

Town started a trialist, Aston Villa youngster Ethan Patterson, at the heart of their defence.

The Blues’ U23s have already secured top spot in Professional Development League Two South, while Leeds have confirmed that they will finish first in the North section. Both teams will play at home in the play-off semi-finals.

Town U23s: Egan, Cotter, Webber, Patterson, Ndaba, McGavin, Dobra, Foudil, K Brown, Z Brown, Simpson. Subs: Alley, Oppong, Smith, Ruffles.

A really lack of usual U23 players available for this game. However, we are WINNERS of our section of our league, bring on the final games against the divisional winners. Do we move up if we win?

No, no promotion or relegation.

As Leeds are WINNERS of their league, and to suggest they put a strong side out, remember that their first team, chasing automatic promotion, played on the same night, so I doubt that anyone seriously in the current first team frame was risked.
