Sears Making Good Progress

Striker Freddie Sears is progressing well as he recovers from the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury he suffered at Norwich in February.

The 29-year-old is expected to be sidelined for between nine and 12 months.

“Freddie received good reports after seeing the specialist at the three-month follow-up after surgery,” Town physio Matt Byard told the club site.

“He is at the strength and conditioning stage at the moment and gaining strength all the time.

“We anticipate him stepping up to the AlterG work in the next couple of weeks. There is obviously a long way to go but he is making good progress.”

Freddie is a good footballer & can be a goalscoring forward, when played up through the centre alongside a strike partner. That is the case in the Championship & certainly will be in Division 1. Confidence is of course an issue with him, but he's a genuine & hard working professional. I like him & hope we see him back to his best. He'll do his best wherever he plays, but his impact is lessened when out of position.

handslikeplates added 20:16 - Jun 14 Freddie happens to be both my daughters favourite Town player, I shouldn't pimp them out but as a single parent getting them to come along to Portman Road to watch Freddie means I get to go too! Good to hear about Freddie's recovery, I feel he's going to be very useful for us this season.

Linkboy13 added 23:11 - Jun 14 Good news about Freddie i think if he hadn't got injured other club's could have been in for him although his goal scoring record hasn't been great last couple of seasons probably due to the Mick McCarthy curse great striker so I'll play him wide on the left.

Freddie and Norwood could be very good together if the midfield steps up and provides decent service to feet. Best of luck Freddie ......
