Knudsen Joins Malmö
Thursday, 20th Jun 2019 16:32

Former Blues left-back Jonas Knudsen has joined Swedish side Malmö FF on a four-year deal.

The move will see the 26-year-old play in Europe next season with Malmö having finished third in the Allsvenskan in 2018 to take a place in the 2019/20 Europa League qualifiers. They are currently top of the league by six points.

Knudsen left Town after a four-year spell this summer with his contract up at the end of the month. Having made it clear he was keen to move on in January no new contract was offered.

Yesterday, the Danish international issued a farewell statement on social media.

"It feels really good. When I heard about the interest from MFF, there was no doubt," Knudsen told the official Malmö website.

"It is a club with high ambitions and it attracts me. Here you will win every match, win titles and play in Europe. It feels great to be part of this club and this team."

Sporting director Daniel Andersson added: "It feels very good that we have attached ourselves to Jonas.

"He is a high-level player who is very professional in everything he does and he will help us a lot in the future."

Well, well! So I get to see Jonas in action again. That was a surprise. Think he'll do well in Malmö, though.

League One to Europa League, and people say he's crap. Well we've got the mighty Kenlock at left back now so they should be happy.

Decent footballer and a very nice bloke. Met him on the waterfront one Sunday with his wife and baby. Very chatty , didn't rate Mick very highly.
Wish him the very best he playing for a good team and should do well.

senduntd - Didn't rate Mick? He was vocal about how highly he rated him. His backing of Mick was his primary downfall with the fans. Sure this wasnt a misunderstanding?

Skip, he wasn't that great, and it's not like he's entering the Europa league with a top club. The fact that the top league in Sweden only gets Europa league says a lot. Yes, we're not in it, but the standard of football over here is much better

A poor player joining a poor team in a poor league.
L1 standard, no more.
When they face top teams in European competition, the result is normally anywhere between 5 and 8 nil defeats.
At his right level now.

ITFCSince73 - that's actually not true is it . They qualified from their group last year , beating Besiktas home and away and were knocked out by Chelsea ,only losing 2-1 at home .

Dozzells Bobblehat. Over the last couple of years they've been beaten 5 nil in France and 8 nil in Spain. They was knocked out of Europe by a Chealsea b stroke c team season just gone.
Keep up Bobble....
