Wigan Game Live on Sky
Wednesday, 26th Aug 2020 10:27

Town’s opening League One game of the season at home to Wigan Athletic has moved to Sunday 13th September with a midday kick-off for live Sky Sports coverage.

Despite the game being broadcast live, Town season ticket holders will still receive a free pass to watch the match via iFollow Ipswich but non-season ticket holders will not be able to watch via that route.

Wigan, relegated from the Championship and in administration, have former Blues striker Joe Garner in their squad, while another ex-Town frontman, Will Keane, is currently on trial.

Fans won't need to be reminded that the Blues have a poor record on Sky having not won for 16 matches in front of their cameras. Their last success was the 1-0 defeat of the MK Dons at Stadium MK in December 2015.

Has there been a full clarification of what season ticket holders will get for their money? IFollow passes to home league games? An iFollow pass is only £10 and some people have Sky anyway. A household with two season tickets could be paying £1,000 a year. 23 home iFollow passes is worth £230.

Oh, dear - our next ritual humiliation will be screened live to the nation. We never win on TV, do we?

Keane must be prepared to take a massive wage cut if he is looking for a contract with Wigan next season.

Len.... what choice does he have. Right now hes getting paid nothing.

In the right system he will do well in L1...if fit

Will Keane never really did it for me. I am more optimistic about Hawkins. He may not be as "cultured" a footballer, but as long as he gets his head in the right place as often as possible, that will do.

That's a concern. We haven't generally been that victorious when we've been live on SKY in recent seasons.

Will Wigan even exist as a club by that point?

This has to be the season to break the Sky hoodoo. If we to be promoted we will be on there enough for that to matter so let's get the first win done and dusted on day 1 !

That just leaves PL a couple of weeks or so to sort out the Keeper, CBs, and who to play further forward....also, can Chambo really be Captain this year after watching yesterday. I sort of hope he stands down from match day Captain and hands over to Ward maybe, or Downes but only if he wants it.

if the players concentrate on the game and NOT on their haircuts and tatts, we'll nick tv wins.... :-)

The law of averages suggests that we must win on the TV soon so might as well be against Wiggum. Hope Keane does play for them as he's cr*p.

In an uncertain time for the world, the only certainty here is that Keane scores. 'Crap' he may be, but he was certainly good enough for us,and you dont have to be any better than crap to benefit from our defensive generosity !
