Youngster Logan Joins Tottenham
Friday, 21st Apr 2023 10:50

TWTD understands Town youngster Calum Logan has joined Tottenham Hotspur.

As previously reported, the 16-year-old defender was targeted by Spurs last summer but opted to remain with the Blues.

However, with the England U17 international’s scholarship due to start this summer, the Premier League side renewed their interest and we understand Logan has now moved to the North Londoners.

As in previous similar situations, the Blues are likely to have received an initial six-figure sum with further payments due later on as the centre-half’s career progresses.

Logan was a member of the Town U18s team which reached the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup this season, but was sent off in the Blues’ 4-2 exit to West Ham at Portman Road.

Better to stick with a well-run club, than go to Tottenham, although they do have a decent youth set up.

Good luck to him. It might work out, it might not. The higher up the pyramid Town can get the less likely these kind of events will happen I think.

We may even buy him back later a la Harry Clarke.

It's always disappointing to lose a young player this way, not least because the concern is that a talent disappears not to be seen again.

Nonetheless, I wish him all the best for the future.

Is he Richard Logan's son?

Would being in category one youth have made any difference in Spurs being able to take him, or mean that we would be due higher compensation? Either way I hope he does well and maybe rejoins us one day. Be good if we could get a first refusal on loan or signing of him

Disappointing to lose a promising youngster but the move may well set him up well for life financially. Also, if he doesn't make there, then there are a lot more branches to cushion the fall.

Good luck Callum, hopefully the club is well protected financially if you do make it!
