Town Apply For Planning Permission For Executive Boxes and Memorial Garden
Sunday, 30th Apr 2023 22:02

Town have applied for planning permission to add more executive boxes and office space to the Magnus Group West Stand, as well as for the memorial garden behind the Sir Alf Ramsey Stand.

The application to Ipswich Borough Council reads: “Provision of new floor space infilling existing voids to the first and second floors of ITFC's West Stand to allow for new open plan offices and executive boxes. Together with the provision of a memorial garden access via Portman Road.”

The existing executive boxes in the stand were built during the late 1990s with the ultimate aim of filling all the way across to the North Stand end of the ground, however, this wasn’t completed.

Town recently announced that due to the major work to install a new state-of-the-art pitch, which will start this week, the ashes of fans interred at Portman Road will be moved to a new memorial garden behind the Sir Alf Ramsey Stand this summer.

councils have far too much powers if you have to ask them permission for a garden on your own property

This really encapsulates the way Gamechanger and this club are driving forward.
Just hours after securing Promotion, the vision continues with planning being applied for to continue the rebuild of our iconic home.

Bobble. If u wanted to put an extension on ur house, ud have to apply to the council for permission to do so. Why do you think this is any different?

There aren't half some curious looking characters coming out of SAR in that picture.

Agree that Gamechanger certainly seem to be making a real difference outside the pitch as well as on it. At some point, they will want their money back, but hopefully by then we will be in a win-win situation. Personally, I wouldn't want to watch a match stuck in a box, but there are those that do and who are willing to pay for it. Exciting times at PR.

Suspect the Exec boxes are being done so we don't need to put them into Cobbold when it gets done, makes perfect sense. But I suspect there will be more coming a year from now.....

Hey Bobble, I'm not sure the Club owns the ground. I seem to think it's leased hence permission needed etc..

So how much does it cost per season to have an executive box in the Magnus Stand?

Dont think the extra boxes are just aimed for matchday. Concerts etc as well.

I wish it was that easy to get a box, you are going to need big and deep pockets for one of those.

Blues1 The planning laws have been relaxed over recent years.
And in most cases an extension to a house no longer requires council consent.
Permitted development law allows upto a 6M house extension, 8M if detached with no local authority approval required.

All commercial developments/alterations fall under local council control. This includes the inside.
For example if the club wanted to turn office space into a changing area that would require planning approval. Same laws owned or leased.

Hopefully they'll make improvements to the toilets below them as part of this. Just widening the door would be a massive improvement!

Nomore4 .....i would certainly not be informing councils of what alterations i do inside my own property as it is none of their business, they are currently operating like east german secret police the amount they want to know about what we do with our own private property....
