Arsenal Defender Trusty On Town's List
Wednesday, 12th Jul 2023 11:10

TWTD understands Arsenal’s US international Auston Trusty is among the central defenders on Town’s list of potential recruits this summer.

The Blues are looking for another centre-half with Richard Keogh having been released at the end of the season and we understand Trusty is among those under consideration.

The left-sided 24-year-old started his career in the USL with Bethlehem Steel, a reserve affiliate of Philadelphia Union, who in turn he progressed to playing with in the MLS.

In November 2019, Media, Pennsylvania-born Trusty moved on to Colorado Rapids, then in January 2022 the 6ft 3in tall defender joined Arsenal but remained on loan with his previous club until July of that year.

Trusty, who has won two full US caps in addition to appearances at U17, U19, U20 and U23 levels, spent last season on loan in the Championship at Birmingham City, making 48 starts and scoring four goals.

We understand Town are far from the only club currently keen on Trusty with the Midlanders reported to be keen on signing him on a permanent basis this summer, while Glasgow giants Rangers have also been linked.

Another player with a promising future and at a good age.
Hopefully it happens and the rebuild continues.

Just hope that the move is more progressed than "on Towns list", always a risk with news breaking too early. Seems a great prospect and will probably only get better under McKenna.

Looks very much like the type of player which Ashtons player trading model would come up with as being of interest.

If we are after him it will be much further down the Road than interested we don't let the cat out the bag anymore with Ashton

After adding a City Slicker with a Gray area in goal we could use a Trusty defender.

This would be huge, a real statement of intent. These are the sort of the signings we need... Quality not quantity. Come on Marky boy pull this over the line.

Why are Rangers inevitably thrown in as a potential buyer of almost every player linked with Town?

I'm sure town have a few on their list but not every deal will get done. We won't pay over the odds and the player must really want to come here and be part of what ITFC is all about these days. We have gone from scraping the barrel in the past to being very particular about who we want these days.

…. And we could do with two CB's like this for the left and right side…

As soon as other championship clubs are interested we seem to lose out Simms to Coventry and now Yeates to Swansea . Looks like there is some sort of wage cap at Portman road. Keep hearing we don't want to pay silly money for players but clubs are not going to give their players away for nothing and nor would we .

Looks good. Left footed & 44 Championship games already under his belt.
While Yates to Swansea is disappointing, in that he would be a good signing for us, it might help free up George Hirst, as Swansea will let Piroe go now, with Leicester a likely destlnation. Here's hoping.
