Town Watch Gallagher
Sunday, 21st Jan 2024 10:11

Town’s head of recruitment Sam Williams is reported to have watched Blues target Sam Gallagher in action for Blackburn Rovers on Saturday.

Gallagher made his first start since September as the Lancastrians drew 1-1 at home with Huddersfield Town yesterday.

According to Sun on Sunday reporter Alan Nixon, Williams was at the game to run the rule over the 28-year-old.

The Blues have had a number of offers in excess of £1 million turned down with Blackburn initially appearing open to allowing Gallagher to move on before getting cold feet earlier in the week, feeling the players’ departure would leave them short on numbers up front.

Rovers were linked with Birmingham striker Lukas Jutkiewicz late last week, while a report this morning says Watford’s Mileta Rajovic is top of their list of potential recruits but with the Hornets after around £4 million for the Dane.

TWTD understands there had been no movement on the deal in the latter part of the week with Gallagher’s start yesterday also an indication that nothing is close.

But Williams’s apparent presence at Ewood Park yesterday suggests the Blues remain interested in the former Southampton striker, who is understood to be very keen on the move.

Stoke City and Sunderland have also been eyeing Gallagher, while his former Blackburn boss Tony Mowbray was reported to be interested in taking him to Birmingham City yesterday.

With only one fit ‘striker’ in the squad surely we need a minimum of two in this week?!

Hopefully watching Szmodics not Gallagher!

He or Moore are exactly what we need. If we can get either through the door before deadline day, then we are in a good place. Without either Jackson will have a big part to play. We are still in an excellent position, so nothing to be nervous about.

Szmodic's is not an out and out target man more of a number ten so we won't be signing him.

Joyousblue you can't afford Gallagher. So you lot thinking you can't get szmodics is a laugh in it's self. Also Travis will be back here when JDT goes in the summer.

He makes a rare start as if to reiterate his importance to Blackburn but the cynic in me says it’s all about screwing us for as much as they possibly can. There’s clearly a balance to be struck here; he’s reportedly on big wages, we don’t need to pay over the top. Hopefully common sense will prevail but if not, move on.

In all honesty cambsrover, you have come onto a Ipswich town fan site and started digging. What do you expect to happen? Unfortunately not everyone will take kindly to some debate.

Why “ watch” Gallagher? We must know enough about him by now. He’s returning from injury which is not a good thing we’ve been stung by this b4. We need a player who can hit the ground running.

Not sure why Blackburn fan? On here, thinks us being interested in Szmodics is laughable. We are better placed than BB , and have good financial backing plus we’ve got the best young coach around as manager atm. Fans may laugh it off, but players are no mugs unless of course they like to be the big fish in a little pond.

I guess it must be the same for all supporters of little clubs like cambsrover, they dream of being part of something huge like town are going through and can't help themselves when joining supporters group of much bigger clubs and pretending to be involved...

Don´t blame Cambsrover for coming on here at all. Their own forum can´t be much fun at the moment..Decent start, and now it is all falling apart for them. Losing a good player like Travis and no investment (we sure remember what it feels like).

Camsrover we can afford anybody in this division! It’s the FFP which stops us we are by far the richest club out of premiership

More chance of Travis retiring at the end of the season, than return to Blackburn…..

#Cambsrover. You do realise that we can afford to buy your entire club, let alone the squad. FFP won't permit, but we are minted.
