Sheeran Apologises For Amorim Interview Gatecrash Monday, 25th Nov 2024 14:34
Blues sponsor and minority shareholder Ed Sheeran has apologised for gatecrashing new Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim’s post-match Sky Sports interview following the Red Devils’ 1-1 draw with Town at Portman Road.
Sheeran interrupted the interview to speak to Jamie Redknapp and subsequently faced criticism on social media.
The Framlingham-based pop star has now apologised via Instagram, saying he didn’t realise Amorim, who had just taken charge of his first match with the Red Devils, was being interviewed at the time.
I think it was no harm that he apologised & more importantly that he explained that he didn't realise Amorim was being interviewed at the time. It would have come across as disrespectful to us, if some celebrity Man U supporter wandered in while McKenna was being interviewed. I assumed it was something like that, more absent minded in the jubilation of the performance, than him being a straight up big Barry Bellend; lesson learned.
This happens all the time with these interviews, ex-players and celebs wandering in and out. They've kicking off because it's Man Utd and they weren't able to beat us and they couldn't pin it on someone else. Lots of fans were bored with the coverage being the Amorim show - Sky were happy to overlook that another team were in this match and gave United a footballing lesson.
Bore off. Glad he did it. Carry on being our flag bearer, Ed.
I'm glad he did it. Most of the press are gushing about United and how Amorin is going to be the savior. There were 2 teams playing yesterday and the blue team were arguably better.
Blueboy 1981 are you scrooge i know this is your busy time of year , being miserable , but just once before your visited by three spirits , have someting proper to say or just shut up please
blueboy1981: It wasn't disrespectful because Ed S has explained he didn't realise Amorin was being interviewed. It was a mistake, for which he has apologised. It would only have been disrespectful if he had interrupted deliberately.
I watched this. After Amorim left and they started talking about us, the Sky Sports presenter said "it's a shame Ed Sheeran's not still here to discuss the Ipswich goal" or something along those lines. So Ed was clearly welcome to appear, and it wasn't a publicity stunt as some are saying here. Did a Sky production assistant bring him on at the wrong time?
I'm always reminded of the old adage, that.....'All famous people are W**kers'. I know very little about Ed Sheeran, and thankfully I've never heard his music. He seems a decent guy though. Enthusiastic, humble, natural. I think he genuinely just got his timing wrong.
It was cringe… but glad to hear the apology.. and a good opportunity to rewatch this gem and get some perspective on life! And for the record- I don’t think she ever apologised for this- just doubled down :-)
As much as it’s great having Ed around, I think it’s important he knows where the line is. There was a definite change of expression when Sheeran appeared at Spurs during his interview. He needs to stay remain in the wings, this mustn’t become the “Ed Sheeran Show”
Blueboy, you're the real embarrassment here, it must be such a sad life moaning every week about things that are only in your pathetic head. Still think KM should be sacked??
As I saw it Rednap was not talking and the camera was not on him it was on Amorim. Sky chose to turn the camera onto Ed and mention him. He could have said hi and bye to Rednap without anyone on tv even knowing he was there. How many of us have quietly said hi and bye to someone in a group talking rather just ignore them and leave?
Well said Rozeeboy74, spot on. The media in general needed reminding that there were two teams involved although you wouldn't have realised that with all the pro Man. Utd. hype in the press both before and after the match. Little mention of the involvement of ITFC.
If the guy puts money into the club and having hime hanging around raises the profile of Town, then that's great. Other than that I have absolutely no interest in the guy.
