Town's Premier League Stay Formally at End Wednesday, 4th Jun 2025 14:45 Town’s stay in the Premier League has formally come to an end with the return of the Blues’ share certificate.
“The three clubs who were relegated - Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton - have transferred back the share certificates that gave them Premier League status, and the Premier League Board has confirmed the cancellation of these shares,” the Premier League wrote on its website following its AGM.
“A new share certificate for each of the promoted clubs [Leeds United, Burnley and Sunderland] has then been signed by the Premier League directors and company secretary. As required under company law, the three clubs have been entered into the share register.
“As a result, the confirmation of the three promoted clubs as members of the Premier League has taken place, with the League formally welcoming them by awarding them their framed share certificates.”
Town will learn their Championship opponents for the season ahead at midday on Thursday 26th June.
The Blues will hope a share certificate will be moving in the opposition direction at next summer’s Premier League AGM.

Ho, hum. But. I've just sat and watched 2 hours of 23-24 Champs highlights. Bring it on !

I wouldn't be disappointed if we never saw the PL again. Ideally, win the championship next season, then get a 30 point deduction !!

Glad to see Town in the Championship as we will see some exciting football instead of backs to the wall and game over after 30 mins. Only want to see Town in the circus when they have a real chance of competing and a chance of staying up. If the 3 going up look like they are coming back down then I hope we make play off and lose in the final Only good thing about the prem is the money….maybe

It was always a bridge to far from where we came from, we just were not ready for the Premier league. What i will not miss is VAR to many long delays spoilt matches.

Very quiet start to the transfer window, but you know the saying, " no news is good news" hopefully! There even seems to be a shortage of stupid rumours. Perhaps everyone's gone on holiday!

What miss VAR ? All those long delays to come up with the wrong decision ? All those times that it did not change things when it should have ? (Dont get me on Chappers pushed against Leicester). I love VAR. I'm going to lay down now. I dont feel well. It's all getting too much. F...k VAR.

One season of PL almost cost me my enjoyment and love of football. Previously only real connection with PL as it stands now was through MOTD. However that only showed the highlights but now, having experienced it first hand, I am so pleased to be out of it. Yes, we saw some great players but far too many prima donnas. VAR totally ruining the excitement of scoring a goal. An obvious leaning by PL, Sky and referees towards the ‘elite’ clubs. I am so pleased to get back to what is one of the most exciting and competitive leagues in the world and as one or two posters have alluded to it’s a shame that success in Championship once again will enforce us to endure being part of PL once again.
