Hutchinson Exit Looking Closer as Brentford Agree Mbeumo Fee Friday, 18th Jul 2025 13:23 Forward Omari Hutchinson’s Town exit looks to have moved a step closer with Brentford reported to have agreed a fee with Manchester United for Bryan Mbeumo.
The Bees view Hutchinson as a replacement for Mbeumo, for whom they are understood to have accepted a fee of £70 million - £65 million guaranteed - with the Red Devils.
On Tuesday, the West Londoners made a number of offers to the Blues for the England U21 international, eventually reaching the £35 million relegation release clause fee prior to it expiring at 5pm, but without meeting the required payment terms with bid payable over a long period.
While Town are not actively looking to sell Hutchinson this summer, the Bees appear certain to come back in with a further offer, which would have to be in excess of £35 million - some reports have claimed Town want £40 million - and on the basis of cash up front to the greater degree rather than over a period of years, which could well be acceptable to the club.
Elsewhere, Italian journalist Nicolo Shira says a deal to 2030 awaits the 21-year-old at Brentford.
Hutchinson, who has four years remaining on his Blues contract, is now believed to have returned from his holiday, having been given additional time off following the England U21s’ successful European Championship campaign, but is not with Town in Austria.
The Blues paid Chelsea an initial £20 million for Hutchinson last summer with the £2.5 million top-up clauses having been triggered over the last year. The West Londoners are understood to be due a percentage of the fee - 25 per cent of profit was reported at time of last year’s move - Town would receive.
Hutchinson is one of two of the Blues’ key players close to leaving with skipper Sam Morsy’s exit to Kuwait SC understood to be all but done, the Egypt international having been offered a very lucrative two-year deal.

I honestly think we have a great squad - Ogbene and Philogene will be like new signings - Broadhead and Chaplin as N0 10 options - just need 1 more midfielder and a CF to rotate with Hirst ..COYB !

Good luck to him and although last season was a disappointing one for him, he has alot of talent, just needs more belief in himself I sometimes think. Just remember the great goals he scored for us in the Championship, not enough mind! But how is he a replacement for Mbeumo? Different styles of play and build.

Really, really disappointed in this. Never thought he would go. And to make it worse, a crappy club like Brentford. Relegation fodder!

Not sure we are as strong on the right hand side as some seem to think. Burns still has to fully recover from his injury and who knows whether he will be back to what he was. Ogbene is further forward in his recovery but for me remains an unknown quantity in this team and again how much has the injury affected him?

If he goes, sell him for no less than £45 mill + £5 mill add on with a 25% sell on clause, then they may have a deal...

People are talking as if this loss is the end of the world. Why?. This is the money we will use to land 2 more CMF. As people have said above, we have a shedload of option up top, Chaplin is a better ten than Omari and as a wide player he has a lot to learn. Sorry but 3 goals and 2 assists for 31 premier league appearances...... take the money. Sign Hackney, Miller and the mexican boy Ruiz and then look at the squad. And for all the people who say he doesnt want to come here, thats according to a third tier newspaper on another continent. TYhe negativity and lack of faith in Ashton is astonishing! GET IT DONE!

Team at the minute with the players we have 4-2-3-1: Palmer, Clarke, O'Shea, Greaves, Davis, Taylor, Matusiwa, Ogbene, Szmodics, Clarke, Hirst. It’s a real toss up between Clarke and Johnson but I’d go with Clarke (if he can stay fit) as he is one of our own, we will definitely be more on the front foot and he is quicker and can deliver a better ball imo. In regards to Taylor, I can’t see him playing in a holding role but with the players we have available I’d play him there as Humphrey’s is strong enough for the championship. I can see at least another two new signings in this position. I’d definitely play Burns in front of Ogbene when fit. I’d love to play Chaplin as the no 10 for his link up play but you can’t leave Szmodics out due to his goal threat. I think Hirst deserves his chance up front be we definitely need two new signings in this position as Al Hamadi is nowhere near good enough and Hirst’s injury record isn’t great. Muric and Al Hamadi needs to be sold asap, Slicker, Baggott and Humphrey’s need to go out on loan.

Andy, we've seen nothing of Philogene and Ogbone yet. Both got injured and niether had the pre-season they will get now. I'm full of optimism, if we land the players I think we will, the squad will be awesome

I agree Bazza...it seems people are prone to knocking Philogene now...he only played a few games in a struggling team...in the EFL with Hull he looked very good....a full pre season to recover from his end of season injury...more exposure to Kmc ..let's be open minded and judge him down the line a bit....we still have a good squad...there are lots of games to be played it's a long season we have a target on our backs...but let's support not destroy before a ball is even kicked.

I think Omari is a good player, but the PL found him out. Of course he may develop and quickly but he is nowhere near Delap's readiness to step back up. I quite like this deal in fact. An ordinary season with us this year and he may have been hard to move on.

Great prospect, wish him all the best, he has a great future. It looks like Gamechanger were correct when they said we’d sell £100 million worth of players this summer. It won’t be far off it Muric, and one or two more move on. It’s not the ‘progress’ Mark sold to us. Literally Sam, Hutch, Delap, Cajuste, Tuenzabe were our best players. It’s obvious as Brett clearly said. We are for sale. If so let’s get it done and start building for the future, because the inertia kills a club.

Be a shame , but if we get 40+ mil for him then cant argue . That will buy us 3 quality players in the championship

He seemed out of his depth and didn't exactly tear things up last season. This move speaks more about him than it does about our club. He's picked a bang average EPL club where he won't make much impact. Good luck to him, but I think it's a flawed choice. Ashton has said our deals will protect the club, and the money we'd make from this protects the club and allows money for further investment. We still have a solid, solid core. I fail to see the doom and gloom in this. We take the money and invest in the squad.

Brentford though!!! Suppose he is a Londoner. Enjoy the smaller crowd, all the best.

The comments on here are mad. We are getting a really significant amount of money £15mil roughly for an unproven player. We were always going to lose our best players it's what happens when you get relegated. Burnley lost 19. Our squad is still insanely good for this league. The players we have brought in are quality, stats are way better than our current midfield in Matusiwa. We just need one more midfield and a striker however expect chapper to bang the goals in again. We have a better goal keeper than we had last time we were here. For anybody criticising the leaving players. Of course they are going to go and play in the prem. Everybody would.

Omari is going, so we need to move on. A while back, I was suggesting we needed to be a bit cautious in our belief we'd go straight back up. The Championship is an unforgiving league. But now, there seems to be rather too much pessimism abroad. We have a couple of good additions already, and I'm pretty sure there will be more to come, albeit they might be last-minute, 11 pm signings - that's what often seems to happen. And we already have Clarke (very decent player), Ogbene (hopefully ready to fire on all cylinders), and Philogene (who I think can turn into a big asset given the right coaching). Yes, we do need more firepower up front, and I expect this is being looked into. So patience folks! It's a tough world out there with many vying for a limited number of options. But I'm hopeful we'll be all set by the time the Brum game comes round. COYB!

Some people on here these days are so far off the reality mark it is literally laughable - Relegation killed the Owners optimism and plan completely, as a result the Club is obviously and undeniably for sale. That’s the long and short of the current situation, it’s now very much a figures game due to the business nature of the Owners, and understood. That indeed should be no surprise to anyone - and cloud cuckoo land is for those that see fit to live there. Relegation WAS a DISASTER for the Owners and Club - a reset to Zero almost is where we are right now - with little, if anything, at all certain. But, all to be revealed by TIME !!

Someone of his quality will be extremely difficult or near impossible to replace now we are in the Championship but it feels like when rather than if he’s leaving so have to accept it and move on.

It was clear when Hutch came here he had ambition beyond us. Because of the KMcK training he is now worth twice what we paid for him. Take the money which probably pays for his wages while he was here. (Well done Mr Ashton). Let him go with our best wishes and thanks for two outstanding seasons. Doing that encourages all the other such prospects that if you come to Ipswich you will be treated right.

Will be a shame if he does go but he did show he could hang in the Premier League when being played in the correct position and only got better over the season and his outing in the Euros only further showed he needs to be in the Premier League. Its a shame it might not be with us but the profit made (£15-£20m) will help us maybe with other signings and we have very good cover in that side should he go with Ogbene, Jaden and Burns on right with Clarke, Jaden and Broady on left (with Szmods if needed)

I wish him well and can fully understand why he wants PL football. It’s also a great offer which the club can’t really turn down. But - where are our new additions. At least three excellent players needed prior to Birmingham, who have strengthened already and early. Three weeks today we will be counting down to kick off and we are clearly lacking at least two CM and one possibly two strikers. If Hirst was to get I hired, then we have no one good enough to play. It’s a real concern. Now we need to replace Hutchinson as well!

blueboy1981: I think you make a very strong point - the owners are primarily interested in the finances and do not have the emotional attachment to the club that we supporters have. But it is not in the owners' interests for us not to do well, so we must hope that they understand the value in our making a strong challenge this season.

I understand why people think we will not be up there this season but I disagree. For me Szmodics will be the number 10 as at Blackburn he scored one or two goals in that position,Mosey has been replaced as has Burguess. Town brought players who were top in the Championship just in case they got relegated as they knew it was too early…..as did most of the fans Obegene Clarke Greaves will do very well in the Championship. O’Shea will be excellent as will Palmer and Davis…….. Plus Hurist Chaplin Taylor and most of all Town have not finished in the market yet A new striker will be in before the end of the window and Town have money to buy Quality and also a quality midfielder too

Darkhorse28, nowhere did I see anywhere in the letter that Brett rather foolishly sent out, clearly stating " we are for sale " . If you can post the concrete proof, then I will post back and personally apologise to you.
